I guess I don't see the problem with clarifying the situation. Essentially she said 'lets slow down' which could mean 'everything is cool, but lets just not get too serious' to 'I really just want to be friends'. I think she said volumes by being offended with your request for clarification and then not seeing why you might want that clarification. It sounds to me like she didn't want to clarify, which basically leaves it for you to guess whether you are or are not dating exclusively. And in fact you still don't know what she wants or wanted.
