Chapter 1/ Section 2
Colossians 3:17(NAS) Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. There is a difference presented, between words spoken and deeds done. Some insight into this will be dealt with in chapter four. The 5 fold "ministry" gifts were set in the Body to raise up a people to do the "work" of the ministry. Apparently God wants to be involved in both arenas. The Father has ordained Kings to rule in the course of the physical earth. He has ordained Priest to rule in the arena of the spirit of and operation of, God towards eternal issues. The purpose of God, for His work in the earth, was clearly defined as being in two realms. In the Old Covenant we see pillars at the first temple representing the businessman and the minister as united for the purpose. These two arenas are to work together and compliment one another. Deuteronomy 8:18 (NAS)"But you shall remember the Lord you God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that he may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. A man of God's calling, brings the Word of God to the people of God, that Godwants to empower them to gain wealth. The minister delivers the Word, the people then gain the wealth which business provides. The minister speaks for God to people, who will actually do work for God. They are to gain wealth so that 1. God can confirm His Covenant of abundant provision to man. 2. So that men of wealth will be empowered to care for and cover those in need of financial aid, and for ministers who will be blessed by the tithes and offerings. Some people scoff at 3 John 2 and attempt to spiritualize it. Beloved I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. But the God of this passage meant what He said. Since God is no respector of persons, if the Holy Spirit directed this emphasis concerning one Believer, it is available to all Believers. The desire was for MAN-God's man-to prosper. This deals with physical abundance. But also, hand in hand is a desire for physical soundness or health. Both are tied to the soul being enlarged with understanding of the Father's wisdom and provision. One will have great difficulty entering into an arena of health or wealth if they lack wisdom concrning and affirming God's plans for them in those area's. Jeremiah 29:11 (AMP) For I know the thoughts and plans that i have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 (KJV) Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distri- bute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. From this passage we see people who are rich in goods of the world system. Business people who have prospered in the world system. They are instructed to use their wealth to make a change. Their wealth is a tool to bring change. Poor people will have empty tool boxes. Solomon said, money (wealth) settles all matters. It is important to come to grips with a pratical truth which is rooted in spiritual insight. Poverty is not of God. There are many passages depicting the Father's will for His man to prosper. But where He speaks of poverty or not prospering, it is a curse of lack He describes. For a ministry to function according to New Covenant instruction, more is involved than gifts, talents and abilities. First-there must be a call of God Next-there must be a maturation, mentoring, discipling and equipping process Next-a commissioning and sending But-for one to go, there are several other elements that must come into play. Most ministries fail for lack of funding, or from the corruption that arises through the misuse of funds. Not from lack of vision or desire When a ministry is to be launched, several support factors must be combined. Someone must heed the call to go Someone must equip and mentor them Someone must commission and send them Someone mst stay by the stuff while they are gone Someone must pay the way for them to go Someone must cover them in prayer Each joint has something to supply for the common good. The end product is strengthened in effectiveness or impaired in ability, based upon the function each part in supplying that part or role which they are to play. Ministry and Business were presented by God as a joint venture. They are to not only work in cooperation to accomplish the purposes of God they are to compliment one another and supply to one another, what is of benefit to the other. It is a two way street of assistance between Businessman and Minister. The Minister (Messiah) needed assistance to fulfill His call to minister. He needed a platform, a stage if you will, and sound amplification to the crowd. The Businessman (Peter the Fisherman) needed product to sell. The Businessman gave the Minister what He needed and the Minister then supplied the Businessman what he needed. Co-laborers in the Father's purpose. 1 Peter 4:9-10(KJV)Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. The man of God can tell the herdsmen where his donkeys are. He can help the workman find his ax. He can obtain resources to build or rebuild cities and temples. The man of God can give the Businessman a Word that leads him to great prosperity. A Word from the Lord allowed Peter to flood the fish market. They can cover each other in prayer, in faith, in counsel and in supply. 1 Corinthians 9:11 (AMP)If we have sown [the seed of] spiritual good among you,[is it too] much if we reap from your material benefits? The Mininster gives from his spiritual gifting. The Businessman gives of his earning gifting. Romans 15:27 (AMP) They were pleased to do it; and surely they are in debt to them, for if these Gentiles have come to share in their [the Jerusalem Jews] spiritual blessings, then they ought also to be of service to them in material blessings. The Work of the Minister should compliment and enrich the life of the Minister. If the Minister ministers a message of prosperity and abundance, he should eat the fruit of that message. Proverbs 18:21 (AMP) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [the death or life]. One will eat the fruit of the crop they have sown. To live in abundance, seeds of the abundant life must be sown. |
