Topic: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad revealed to have Jewish past | |
---|---|
A photograph of the Iranian president holding up his identity card during elections in March 2008 clearly shows his family has Jewish roots.
A close-up of the document reveals he was previously known as Sabourjian – a Jewish name meaning cloth weaver. The short note scrawled on the card suggests his family changed its name to Ahmadinejad when they converted to embrace Islam after his birth. The Sabourjians traditionally hail from Aradan, Mr Ahmadinejad's birthplace, and the name derives from "weaver of the Sabour", the name for the Jewish Tallit shawl in Persia. The name is even on the list of reserved names for Iranian Jews compiled by Iran's Ministry of the Interior. Experts last night suggested Mr Ahmadinejad's track record for hate-filled attacks on Jews could be an overcompensation to hide his past. Ali Nourizadeh, of the Centre for Arab and Iranian Studies, said: "This aspect of Mr Ahmadinejad's background explains a lot about him. "Every family that converts into a different religion takes a new identity by condemning their old faith. "By making anti-Israeli statements he is trying to shed any suspicions about his Jewish connections. He feels vulnerable in a radical Shia society." A London-based expert on Iranian Jewry said that "jian" ending to the name specifically showed the family had been practising Jews. "He has changed his name for religious reasons, or at least his parents had," said the Iranian-born Jew living in London. "Sabourjian is well known Jewish name in Iran." A spokesman for the Israeli embassy in London said it would not be drawn on Mr Ahmadinejad's background. "It's not something we'd talk about," said Ron Gidor, a spokesman. The Iranian leader has not denied his name was changed when his family moved to Tehran in the 1950s. But he has never revealed what it was change from or directly addressed the reason for the switch. Relatives have previously said a mixture of religious reasons and economic pressures forced his blacksmith father Ahmad to change when Mr Ahmadinejad was aged four. The Iranian president grew up to be a qualified engineer with a doctorate in traffic management. He served in the Revolutionary Guards militia before going on to make his name in hardline politics in the capital. During this year's presidential debate on television he was goaded to admit that his name had changed but he ignored the jibe. However Mehdi Khazali, an internet blogger, who called for an investigation of Mr Ahmadinejad's roots was arrested this summer. Mr Ahmadinejad has regularly levelled bitter criticism at Israel, questioned its right to exist and denied the Holocaust. British diplomats walked out of a UN meeting last month after the Iranian president denounced Israel's 'genocide, barbarism and racism.' Benjamin Netanyahu made an impassioned denunciation of the Iranian leader at the same UN summit. "Yesterday, the man who calls the Holocaust a lie spoke from this podium," he said. "A mere six decades after the Holocaust, you give legitimacy to a man who denies the murder of six million Jews while promising to wipe out the State of Israel, the State of the Jews. What a disgrace. What a mockery of the charter of the United Nations." Mr Ahmadinejad has been consistently outspoken about the Nazi attempt to wipe out the Jewish race. "They have created a myth today that they call the massacre of Jews and they consider it a principle above God, religions and the prophets," he declared at a conference on the holocaust staged in Tehran in 2006. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/6256173/Mahmoud-Ahmadinejad-revealed-to-have-Jewish-past.html LOL...this is getting crazier.. |

You mean he's gonna' have to give himself a nucular enima??
Isn't that ironic!? An old man turned ninety-eight He won the lottery and died the next day It's a black fly in your Chardonnay It's a death row pardon two minutes too late And isn't it ironic... don't you think It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take Who would've thought... it figures Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye He waited his whole damn life to take that flight And as the plane crashed down he thought "Well isn't this nice..." And isn't it ironic... don't you think It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take Who would've thought... it figures Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you When you think everything's okay and everything's going right And life has a funny way of helping you out when You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up In your face A traffic jam when you're already late A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife It's meeting the man of my dreams And then meeting his beautiful wife And isn't it ironic...don't you think A little too ironic...and, yeah, I really do think... It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take Who would've thought... it figures Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out Helping you out |

If you ask me, does it really matter?
People are judged by their deeds, not by their births or origin. |

it doesn't matter but there are good reasons to believe that the claim is false - here is another article entitled...

so much for the telegraph's credibility. It was more for the media stunt than actually reporting anything factual or researched. People should learn from it how the media twists and turns things just to have the biggest reader base, even if it means writing garbage.

If you ask me, does it really matter? People are judged by their deeds, not by their births or origin. [/quote I agree it doesn't really or shouldn't matter . but it does . if a person has a reason they don,t like you for this or that they wouldn't . it wrong but thats the way it is . I heard a really cute girl when I was in Jr. high school tell a close friend of mine that she shouldn't like me . I had no idea who she was or why she felt that way . It didn't matter to me because my friend at that time said we were friends and that ended it but two years later my friend at that me a letter saying she had never been my friend .it hurt but what the hell . you get up get out and try to find a good friend instead of some shallow flake .people spend there whole lives trying to steal your sole and when you look around you see they are very successful at it . young girls going around broken at an early year in life boys shamed to humiliate so they can't hold there heads up all for no reason . I learned early in life 2 things one , to walk like a duck and let the abuse roll off you back like and 2 how to fight '..the duck part only helps because there is just not enough time beat all there ***** there just to many . SO BE A DUCK AND CARRY A GUN .... one more thing Jew is part of the name of a city . not an insult Hebrew is the name of a tribe and not an in sult . unless you let it be . as far as the persians go they are part of the Aryan group and they came to that area of the world a little before the Hebrews and on the other side of the mountains but on the same side of the Caspian sea . |

Its apparent to me that we all need a dna test to see who we really are .i'd like to know .
I don't know what would that prove, or how that helps anyhow, unless you're interested in your family tree I see no other use of it. |

Ah well one does have to wonder about a guy that so Denys the Holocaust even happened, and a guy that says there are no gays in Iran.. LMAO I would say it's a typical thing in an islamic nation both. I watched Larry King night with him..He didn't deny it , he just kept repeating that Palestinians has nothing to do with it and they are the ones suffering of it..which is a hot topic nowadays. About the gay thing..Islam doesn't allow open homosexuality and I'm sure they got homosexuals in Iran except they are prohibited to talk about it. It's a waste of time to compare Iran to USA, we're talking about 2 different planets, but anyway, the topic was about the clashes of 2 British newspapers who claim differently. |
