Topic: Road Rage | |

If someone cuts you off, pulls out in front of you, drives slow, tailgates you, doesn't use blinkers... all those things that irritates you while on the road. Do you flip them off, yell at them out your window... pull your gun out? Do you have road rage? Or do you just ignore it and go on your way? |

Having to drive my twins (8 year old) it has somehow restricted my colourful vocabulary as far as driving is concerned
I also often use the Russian taxi driver Pikop Andropof he is cheap but a bumpy driver |

Take a 44mag with you.
That way you can flip them off with confidence. :-) |

I would probably remain calm....at first. Then flip out later

I always ease away from danger ... deep cleansing breaths ... and never let it get under my skin!
Tap brake ~ ease back ... or change lanes and speed away from that missile ... Defensive driving, I give a toss about gettin' to know an aggressor or mindless idjit ... |

I ignore them because people carry guns in HOuston.... I knew a guy in the passenger seat, that got shot DEAD by the driver of another car, that had just been flipped off by the driver of the friend's car ... in Houston! Do NOT drive and flip folks! |

Having driven in Boston quite a bit, where the street signs are merely suggestions, nothing bothers me. Just stay chilled.

I had an encounter over 6 years ago with a crazed motorist. I was going to work and some knucklehead was tearing down the highway at 90 or 95. He was moving so fast and stealthily, that I just barely saw him and avoided a collision with him, [I was going to change lanes]. The motorist also had to hit his brakes and take evasive action. He got irate and started to follow me. I presume he thought my lane change was deliberate, it was not. Well, he followed me for several miles and eventually tried to ram my car off the road. I am not a faint hearted individual. When this guy stopped the verbal abuse and hand gestures, [the finger], and resorted to physical violence, I had enough. So, I stopped in the middle of a 4 lane thoroughfare. I came to a dead stop. I knew that if he also stopped, his intent was to cause me harm. Sure enough, he stopped right behind me and got out. He threw the first punch and I had him up against the car and was pounding on him. Well, at that moment, the cops drove by and saw me beating up this motorist. It just so happened that there was a procession of 4 cop cars. So, they all took turns beating me. They did not care who started the fight or ask of its origins. This other motorist was a uniformed Air Force Captain. So, I was charged with assault and taken to court. The cops brutalized me, protected the road rage perpetrator, and threatened citizens who had seen what had actually happened, [my version].
To make a long story short, you should ignore these motorists if all they do is honk, yell at you, or flip you off. Try to avoid and evade them. But, if they physically try to harm you, do whatever you have to do to survive. Most states would allow "deadly force". |

I'd say tactical revenge works for me. Speed past them and block them off from passing you at the earliest possible moment. If it's a tailgater, slow down, then get over and speed up in the other lane when it becomes open. Drive side by side with the car next to you. People that don't singnal, I always speed up and pass. Yes I have some road rage, but I prefer to excercise it within the letter of the law, or at least close to it. Oh and if a cop is following behind you, always get off at the next exit and then back on, or make the next right, then right again, then right again and keep driving around the block until he leaves.

Oh I forgot to mention how I handle speeders. I let them whiz past me at warp speed in their little Lexus or BMW, and then a couple of miles later, I slow down and give a couple of short horn toots as the officer is writing them a ticket on the side of the road. Then I laugh like Snagglepuss.

Sometimes I just shrug and cruize and other times I honk and swear (not loud enough for them to hear me though lol) |
