so ive been trying to install and run windows messenger on my computer id say for about a week now and i kept getting the kernel32.dll error.so i decided to install the service pack 3.
and when i ran i.e explorer it let me run and msn messenger 4.7.. im fine that its an older version just annoyed that 4.7 will work but not the latest version,oh im still running windows black for now until i look into to other options which a few helpful people have already informed me about anyway as i recall msn messenger made you upgrade if you had anything earlier then 8.5 i think but the browser carries 4.7 i find that amusing! just wanted to share! |

My Live messenger (2009 version) stop working at one point and I was getting errors everytime I tried to open it. I fixed it by removing the yahoo toolbar from internet explorer not just disabling it but uninstalling it.
Try that |

Ooops, i was unclear - I meant to ask if you were basically content with your messenger situation. It sounds like the messenger you have now is 'good enough'.
( But if you aren't, and even if you didn't try ubuntu, well I'm pretty sure there are other IM clients besides messenger which work on the msn network, and that run on windows. ) |
