Thanks Joe! I will be posting up some adult fantasy fiction stuff soon. I thought I get the children's art out of the way first. laugh

Lighting and shading was my main concern when drawing these illustrations.

goodjob on the illunstrations, very nice. What techniques did you use to get the desired results?

Well thank you very much. drinker

I used general pastel chalk pencils. I was experimenting with colors after sketching with regular pencils for a long time.

I wanted to learn more about coloring in general and how lighting and shading can make the difference to an illustration. Of course I haven't perfected it yet, for it is an ongoing learning experience.

I also wanted to learn how to create illustrations that can pertain to the children's eyes as I am more of a dungeon and dragon's type artist in general.

What it is worth, each illustration was done at least a dozen times and thrown in a trash bin before I slowly began to understand the concept, in which I still have mastered. laugh

I showed them to my child, Smiless. My child's favorite was the one with the trees. My child said, "It's neat how he made so many trees like that."

Wow that is such a nice compliment for your child. Tell him thank you very much. I draw to try to inspire my daughter to draw more also. It actually worked and I can't get her to do anything else lately. laugh

It is a great relaxation method actually. Sometimes I just color and that does it for me. Then of course I have my aquarium full of cichilids to stare at. laugh drinker

Awww thank you. I have no gift actually, just alot of practice. The drawing isn't the hard part, it was the coloring, shading, and lightning of the illustrations that provided the hardship. I am getting the hang of it though. drinker
