Volunteering!

I started to help out with this organization in one
of my local churches where services are provided for families in need.

Food , clothing and babysitting services so some of the mothers who need it can to interviews and look for work, etc.

My daughter, and myself, and my friends have already started
boxing up a lot of nonperishable foods that will be distributed

among some of the needier families now, and as the Holidays draw near.

The looks on these folks faces is priceless I'm feeling very good right now!

I do that every year too! It is so rewarding isn't it?!

It is an amazing feeling helping others.

Like you said the looks on their faces sasys it all.

A lot of people in need right now, it seems.

I'm sure they appreciate you.

I do volunteer work at a VA clinic.. some of those guys just need someone to talk to, recieve a hug once in a while... its very sad to see how our guys have been treated...

I'm so proud of my daughter-

she's been collecting canned goods -
and is now trying to set up a fall bake sale at her school-
where the profits are going to go directly to buying food for the
food distribution

that's wonderful MisSilver- I have a VA near me and
have seen so much volunteering going on- it's heartwarming

i have been helping with foodboxes to families from my home, i have been doing it for a number of months
i help what i can and when i have extra i would contact someone to see if they could use a foodbox.

Oh my! When I saw the thread title: "Just recently started" I was SO hoping you weren't gonna say your period!

Volunteering is awesome! When I was a member of a biker's organization, A.B.A.T.E...we helped distribute gov't commodities, did the Toys for Tots Run, & other civic niceties...it feels good to help the community.

When my youngest daughter was in the Navy(12yrs) she once told me that a lot of the girls and guys would not even recieve a Xmas card.. So every Xmas I would start early baking and making candy, gathering up other food stuff and send many boxes to my daughter to share with others..Once I even sent a small Xmas tree from the dollar store w/decorations and they sent me a pic of it taped to the master chiefs desk.. I receivied many cards thanking me for all I sent.. Just my way of giving back to those that served...

That is a great cause indeed & there is also a tremendous feeing of self-accomplishment that goes w/ it.All of my daughters & myself have been involved in these type of food drives & other worthy causes throughout the years within our church.That's awesome.Godspeed!Cy
