a letter in the mail from the people I rent from. Seems they are splitting up and she is getting the place I live in! Now I have till January 1st to find a place to move to. I feel that I should not have to pay them anymore rent because this is a major inconvenience to me and my son! Plus I'm now going to need money for deposits and fees and crap to move yet again! Why couldn't I have just gotten a bill instead.. oops I think that IS a bill!

That sucks. However, it happens when a business changes ownership. I have a friend who got fired from his job when a new person bought the store he worked for.

At least they gave you 3 months notice legally they only had to provide 30 days unless you have a lease. Which if you do have a lease and they are breaking it you could get monetary reimbursement for it just like you'd have to pay if you were the one breaking it.

Well there was no lease which is another thing I liked about living here and yes I'm glad they gave me 3 months at least! |

I think this upsets my son more than myself since he has several friends that live right here as well and he could just walk over to their houses! |

I don't see much advantage with the 90-day notice. In my town the landlords advertise when they have two weeks to rent a place. Sometimes they can't get a tenant even after the old one moves out, so they want Immediate Occupancy, which means, rent starts NOW. So you have 90 days, big deal, you can only use the last ten of it to look for a place. I usually end up paying the last month at the old place and the first month at the new place concurrently. This time I played my cards better, I paid to end of Sept in old place, but new place I rented only from Sept 16. What a sore winner I am. (Sore muscles. I did the entire move on a home-made trailer and a bike. Fifteen trips. I moved a mile away from the old place.) (A mover gave me a quote for $180, and I coulda did the thing with a truck by myselv in two turns, for $50, but I like a challenge like a stupid guy likes a girl with too much make-up.) |

My hours got cut to 32 from 40 a week. Last month my landlord was telling me I had to pay him 1200/month and it couldn't go on with just me living here paying my half. There is no lease. |
