okay! first hat is done. i'll post pic as soon as i get on my big pc and upload them! :p

so i'm making a new one. a different hat.

i'm almost to the brim and the instructions ask for half double crochet all the way around slip stitching in first half double crochet to complete round.

then...

slip stitch in the center (through the fabric) of each half double crochet around.

OKAY... in the center?? through the fabric?!

what the hell does that mean?!?!

i'm stuck again!

HELP!!

Would love to help but I am a knitter!

Try www.cyca.com

Haven't been to that site for a long while but when I was am active member there - lots of great people answering questions just like yours. By the way cyca is craft yarn council of America. Wish I could be of more assistance...I barley crochet...we knitters do have a through the middle thing too but I don't want to steer you wrong! Good luck and try CYCA it was (and hopefully still is a great site)

i would slip stitch through the top two loops like normal.

either that, or i'd try slip stitching around the post, to see what it'd look like...and i'd stick with whichever method looked closest to the picture.

That sounds about right. Either that or slip stitch right through the post instead of around.

okay weird thing is i tried regular and the slipstitch ended up on the inside of the hat.. instead of ontop of the half double crochet.

and i tried through the post but it looked soo wrong. :(

i guess i'll just test it and see what happens. i mean my bill may end up on the wrong side LOL
