I am laughing so hard over hear. Are you guys realy seriouse? I sometimes think people just like to argue and avoid the reality of the topic Its been fun for sure but much to do today. I am going to the store and buy some good safe to eat food and will be thankfull for those "liberals" who demanded our food was safe to eat. I will also grill this afternoon and know that the charcoale isnt made from recyled furniture and is safe to cook on(thanks liberals) I will know that the lighter fluid isnt left over paint thinner that some (capitalist) thought he could make a quick buck on by passing off as charcoal lighter fluid. My meat will be safe to eat because some liberal inspected the meat packing plant. My Beer will be pure being that it is Warsteiner! brewed only by the finest German purity laws. I know my car wont break down on the way to the party because some Liberal demanded autos not explode in a fireball when you have a minor accident. Have a great labor day weekend everyone! Under Bush the Republicans said that the banks won't last and need to stop with the bad home loans. liberals, "oh people that can't afford home are getting homes, it is a good thing". The Auto industry needed to be reformed not taken over. Heath Care needs to be reformed not taken over. With the way things are going the Government will run everything in day to day life. You may like the ideal but I don't.

Do you mean a real Liberal (i.e. Adam Smith, etc) or a quasi-socialist calling themselves liberal? If you mean the former, yes, I like (classical) liberals very much. Modern liberals have almost nothing to do with the things you mentioned, and generally hinder human rights/progress by growing government and regulations (much like "conservatives", but with a slightly different slant).

You'll never catch ME calling Republicans defenders of liberty (other than a few notables, viz. Ron Paul and Peter Schiff).

If you pay tax on money/property that you rightly own, thank the government.

If your money is worth less than 5% of its original 1913 value (such as the US dollar), thank the government.

If your family members have been killed/wounded in pointless foreign war(s), thank the government.
