Topic: Damn hills... | |

I'm getting better, let me start out saying that first. Stupid manual transmission...that's the second part. I haven't hit anyone, yet...why is it on a slight incline my pickup has a tendency to want to roll into the car behind me? I did pretty good at keeping it from happening, matter of fact it was probably one of my better stop and goes...but it isn't all that fun. Stupid manual...

I remember when the first few years I drove a stick shift, I'd avoid hills like they were the darn plague. Didn't mattr how small an incline. I'd get skeered outta my darn wits.

I love my mustang. It is manual and fun in the rain
When you get use to it, you will have tons of fun with it |

I just hold it in first and roll up and roll back and roll up and roll back. No one ever gets too close that way

Fear, I learned to drive on a stick and my dad put me on a hill and told me when I got over it I could drive anywhere. MOST frustrating experience of my life but well worth it. I love stick shifts and pretend I'm playing pole position when driving.

The pick up I have no is the only vehicle I've ever had that wasn't a manual.
Dad taught me how to drive in a really old cemetery that had 4 ways and hills. He'd make me pull part way up a small hill and kill it. Ugh, it sucked! But I learned! Plus, Dad said it was the safest place for me to learn to drive... everyone was already dead! It will get easier with practice! |

All my cars have had manual trans in them. When I drive the my company truck I'm allways looking for the floor shifter.

I love stick shifts and pretend I'm playing pole position when driving. Yeah...only way I will go on a hill is if it is a cemetary, aside from that I see no need. Of course eventually I will have no choice, so then it will be a matter of learning really...really...quickly... |

I drive a stick, and I don't know if your truck is set up for this, but when it's really steep and tight with traffic, like in San Francisco, I use the emergency break. I just pull it up, hold the buttone down so it doesn't lock, and let off on it as I accelerate; keeps me from rolling back. But depends on where your emergency break is.
