China Debates Executions for DUI
Sept. 1, 2009 07:34 PM USA TODAY BEIJING - Mix a billion people with an age-old thirst for strong alcohol. Stir in China's new love of the automobile. And the deadly result has sparked a crackdown on drunken driving and a heated debate on whether offenders deserve the death penalty.

You would have a lot less deaths due to drunk driving. I sure wouldn't drink and drive if the death penalty was possible.

Well, people would make sure they had a designated driver set up if they knew death could be the consequence... I don't know what we need to do here but seems many are still hurt and killed by drunks behind the wheel.

The thing is, if you drink one beer in AZ, you are legally DUI. I can't see executing someone for one beer?
And I would much rather be on the road with someone that had 2 beers than some kid Texting while driving. JMO |

I do not agree with death for drunk driving. Jail time fines or both is fine with me. China is a communist country and is going to do what they want to do anyway.

If they decide to execute drunks, I just hope they make the executions public and televised. They should also consider changing up the styles they will use. People will become bored with watching the same old thing like a hanging. Throw in a few old world beheadings, the type with the hooded guy who uses the wide axe. Live-wire electrocutions. Maybe crush them in the car they were driving or sometimes, let the drunk live and execute the family.
Just some ideas to throw out there for them. Mix it up and keep the public interest. |
