Topic: Up On The Roof | |
---|---|
My boys had a tree house for years and years, weren't much older than that when they would go up and down the ladder... is was up as high as a roof top. Nobody ever got hurt.. Climbing a ladder is different then a pitched roof. |

hahaha everytime I kiss papersmile I yell "tongues!" and the kids run away going "eeeeeeeewwwwwwwww" I think if you're a guy you'll say it's okay to take a kid on the roof and if you're a girl you'll say no Don't get me wrong. I am not an over protective mother... I have been mom and dad for a very long time. |

heck mine jumped off the roof and i caught them
they were all up on a roof regularly they need to be taught the consequences of their actions what better way is there they know if they fall they get hurt (maybe) it helps them put other actions consequence in perspective and my catching them helped them understand they could trust me but hey...... |

It would depend on the roof, and how high up said roof was. if it is more than a 15 degree angle, then hell no I would not let a kid on that roof, but that's just me. Now if the roof is flat, like on a mobile home, then as long as I was with them to show them where to step without falling through (been there done that got the scars to prove it lol), then ok no problem.

Doesn't sound like a good idea if he wasn't on a thether. At five they don't know they can't do what they see in cartoons.
Did you have some choice words to say about it then? Thought one of my boys would scare me white headed before I was 30. He had no fear. You didn't dare take your eyes off of him a minute. Pulled him out of tree tops, off the top of the barn, roof, off utility polls, top of the school bus. He walked across the paralell bars at school, fell broke his arm which the teacher did not notice all day. Got to where we slept in shifts. He could move like greased lightening. Pick a lock. Tumble a combintion. Had to have a serious security system. |

No more dangerous than taking a kid on a hike or in a car! I don't often pick up a newspaper and read ~RASH OF YOUNGSTERS TOPPLING FROM ROOFTOPS~

I think if you're a guy you'll say it's okay to take a kid on the roof and if you're a girl you'll say no as a sort of cautious and fearful parent, i make a conscious effort every day to allow my children to be children, knowing that they probably might get hurt, but still thinking it's best they live life rather than me sheltering them from every possible bruise they might suffer. while i probably wouldn't take them up on the roof (since i'd NEVER go up there anyway ![]() |

depends on the pitch and the purpose(like spying on the neighbors) etc.
The mom in you, probably, says no!! The "dad" in you says yes!!! good idea /bad idea....idk...but it does sound like it would be fun... |

I have to put a door up between the kitchen and his bedroom so I can latch it fromt he kitchen at night, to keep him from ging through the house, raiding the fridge and pantries, etc etc etc. And before someone screams abuse, the back door and bathroom are immediatly off of his bedroom and on between his bedroom and where the door will be, so heaven forbid he HAS to get out of the trailer, he can. I already called and asked social services, and the fire department to make sure it was safe to do so. |
