fallen heros or is it also a day to thank our current heros?

Memorial, by definition, is for those who have given their lives in
service to the country...

But it has morphed into a celebration of all the armed services, which
is an excellent thing!

Not being a veteran myself, I think it is for all armed services, all
men and women.

Nus is right, the original intention was to honor those who gave their
lives for the country.

But there's nothing wrong with showing appreciation and thanks to those
who are currently serving, as well. We owe those folks a lot -- they
put their lives on the line every day and I think we all need to
consider what that means....

Being a veteran of desert storm, i feel qualified to say that Memorial
Day is for those that have fallen, both in wartime, and in peace. But,
at the same time, showing a nod of appreciation to those Currently
serving would come in a close second. Those of us that have served, and
did return home have Veteran's Day for us, and we, at least I, spend it
thinking about all of the above mentioned. For if it weren't for what
our older vets did to teach us, we would have fewer vets, and more
headstones. God Bless the military of the US, and our allies.
