Hi everyone
Its my first post in this section.
Unit is even or odd?

If unit numbers to be added even odd numbers produces
1+2=3
And if odd numbers be added to production numbers is even
1+3=4

If you're only considering integer math and you're defining 'even' as only those integers that can be divided by 2 with no remainder, then it's meaningless to speak of unity as being either even or odd since it can't be divided by 2 when only integers are permitted as the output.

So in a purely integer system the number 1 is neither even nor odd, simply by the definition of the system under consideration.

Hope this helps. flowerforyou

By the way, as you point out here, unity does exhibit the property of being odd when in the context of addition.

So during addition it's pretty safe to think of 1 as an odd number.

Obviously this can't work for multiplication since unity is the identity for multiplication. (Zero is the identity for addition and that's why One can be considered to be odd for addition)

But overall, One is neither odd nor even. (or it can be considered to be both depending on the context). However you want to look at it.

Hope this helps.

Somewhat off topic, but odd nonetheless that Quietman correctly spelled "definitely." Unconscious--I'm no spelling snob--casual observation over the years have led me to believe that "definately" is the most often incorrectly spelled word in forums. I don't mention it, because correcting spelling is an open invitation to getting flamed; and I don't care, I know what is being meant. But, still, thanks to Qietman for breaking ranks and spelling it in the more traditional form.
