Are you asking for information regarding:
Joseph Smith?? (www.josephsmith.com or www.josephsmith.net) or The Church of Latter Day Saints (ie: Mormons)? (www.lds.org) or The history of Nauvoo, Il? (http://www.historicnauvoo.net) Those websites will give you basic info... if, however, you have specific questions, just ask. |

(http://www.historicnauvoo.net) Those websites will give you basic info... if, however, you have specific questions, just ask. I know that these sights give basic info. Yet they leave alot out. My family was the 1st settlers before the Mormons showed up in Hancock Couty ILL. They settled Plymouth ILL. at one time thier were 200 mormons living in the town along with Josephs sister and her 4 boys. The information I have goes completely against what happened in Navoo ILL. We even had the Mormon Hotel which Hyrum who was killed with Joseph ran. They will not answer me (The Mormon Church) as I have asked for. 1 big question I have is Why would the Govener of ILL. which the state Capital of ILL. is quite a horseback ride. Lead the ILL. Militia all the way to Navoo to arrest 2 people? I will leave it at that hoping to get more info here. This is some of that History in Mormons writings... Shalom...Miles A charge, which promised to prove as devoid of foundation as had the excuses for the fifty arrests preceding it, led Joseph Smith, president of the Church, and Hyrum Smith, the patriarch, to again surrender themselves to the officers of the law. They were taken to Carthage, Joseph having declared to friends his belief that he was going to the slaughter. Governor Ford gave to the prisoners his personal guarantee for their safety; but mob violence was supreme, more mighty than the power of the state militia placed there to guard the prison; and these men were shot to death, even while under the governor's plighted pledge of protection. Hyrum fell first; and Joseph, appearing at one of the windows in the second story, received the leaden missiles of the besieging mob, which was led by a recreant though professed minister of the gospel. But the brutish passion of the mob was not yet sated; propping the body against a well-curb in the jail-yard, the murderers poured a volley of bullets into the corpse, and fled. Thus was the unholy vow of the mob fulfilled, that as law could not touch the "Mormon" leaders, powder and ball should. John Taylor, who became years afterward president of the Church, was in the jail at the same time; he received four bullets, and was left supposedly dead. |

I will be frank.
I have no doubt in the research I have did that great relatives of mine helped kill Joseph and Hyrum Smith. It has been a secret in my family for a very long time. Why all this came about I can understand from what I have found in the US Archives about Plymouth. My family which was the largest family in Plymouth at that time has been portrayed in a very bad light by Mormon writings. I plan on getting the proof from courthouses I lknow to go to to prove this history being made up for the prophet legacy to continue. I hope a factual book will come out of it. I am just hoping for more info that whoever might have to help me.. Blessings Of Shalom...Miles |

And some who are very angry.. so they love dishing the dirt. I'm just not one of them.. Thanks.. I do not know any deffectors personally but would like to meet them. I would imagine they have only knowledge of what they were taught. Taking it that an angry mob killed them is probally never thought about. But why the angry Mob? The Mormon History even though at the time 1/2 of Plymouth and even a Mormon Hotel is vaguely mentioned. It is a fact I have found that Josephs sister lived in Plymouth and refused to leave when Brighom Young tried his best to try to get her to leave Plymouth and go west with them. She refused and remarried staying in Plymouth and then just moving a short way aways with her 4 boys. Thier was enough tention that one of the towns young school age boys stuck a knife in one of her boys head and killed him. After that they all seemed to forget and forgive and everything went back to normal. Mormon history says that she was starving with her sons and during the winter had no shoes or coats and went out begging in the streets and the towns people turned thier back on them and shut thier doors in the childrens faces. Now that sure does seem like a reason why she refused to go to Utah.. Blessings...Miles |

I plan on going up thier and gathering more info. Hopefully it will be usefull. I am also going to St Louis and Springfield for information in thier courthouse which I believe is thier. What have you been told why Joseph and Hyrum were arressted. Why a angry mob would go after them? Blessings...Miles |

Miles,
Jerald and Sandra Tanner – “The Utah Lighthouse Ministry” They have a web site. About 20 to 25 years ago I went to hear them speak. I grew up in Illinois and even visited Navue. At that time I was most interested in Mormonism because its beginnings were recent enough and its history took place in the best documented times of any religion to have become so large and powerful. But I was having a most difficult time trying to get anyone to speak of this religion, it was such a secretive thing, like the old Mason’s. Then the Tanners began touring and letting the “cat out of the bag.” I found it fortuitous that I had made the connection with Mason’s because, as it turned out, Smith and other family had been involved with the Masons and that accounted for his emulation of many of the rituals and the secrecy. Anyway, the point is, I had never heard before, nor since, anyone speak with as much knowledge, logic, and total understanding of Mormonism as the Tanners. Go their web-site and see if there is a way to contact them and explain your reason for doing so. As sincere as they were back then, I can’t imagine they would ignore you. Good luck, and Miles, I would be most interested in reading what you have to write on the subject. I had spent many years studying the religion, even read and compared several editions of the Book of Mormon. As well documented as the rise and evolution of the religion was, there are still areas of mystery but over the years I have found others have pieced together information bringing to light more and more the deceit of its founder(s). It actually seems laughable but as time goes on I find it even more amazing that people still hold together in this religious society. Shalom Red |

Thanks Red.
Do you have a web address for them? I would like to know. I have been doing family history and ran into a taboo area with my extended family. i knew my mom and dad when they were alive had to always go to Nauvoo every year and stay but never gave me a reason as i was left home. Then when I found this mormon connection to us some things ever since I can remember started presenting more questions. We were never morman and never went to a morman service.... Yet all the time my mom and dad each had The Book of Morman and read it alot. Never dawned on me why. I know thier were things that my mom told me every so often that never made since now they seem to since I have found this out. Thanks Red and if you have a web address it would be nice if not i will do some searchimg..Thanks Red.. Blessings of Shalom...Miles |
