If I was that interested I would offer to go off site, then engage in voice chat. I would not give out my number nor would I just call someone on first email.

Ok, I get this. However.....I'm just wondering what is the difference in blocking your number and talking on the phone and having a voice chat online. Isn't that essentially the same thing?

Hypothetical here......tell me what YOU would do.

You mutual matched with someone local. They email saying they aren't good at typing but include their phone number saying they enjoy meeting new people and to call anytime. Remember, you know virtually nothing about this person, except for a few brief words on a profile.

I'd never call someone without getting to know them through messaging. Awkward moments will rise when trying to figure out what to talk about. huh

Yes, somewhat...however, if it is a "scammer" or worse, they could potentially snag your IP addy in an online chat. SCARY! noway

I would NEVER call or ask someone to call, only after 1 e-mail! I'm just not that kind of a guy. We'd have to have at least the following before doing so:

27..... e-mails
16..... Smoke-Signals
34..... Western Union/Telegrams
17..... Tom-Toms Signals from high mountain top(distance depending)!
23..... Carrier Pigions
04..... Sky writings
73..... Instant messages (yahoo or other)

Then, we might chat on the phone! Providing she is still around after all that!

Ha ha.. you could negotiate too..
two pigs, three chickens.. 12 loincloth..

Also, if I wanted to actually get to know someone, I'd rather do it this way than over the phone, because a voice can be distracting. I talked to a guy on the phone once and his voice was so annoying, that's all I could think about. It literally freaked the hell out of me (it was like he was talking through a wad of wet cotton or something, which he very well could have beensick) so I made up an excuse to get off the phone and never talked to him again.grumble

Not real sure it matters much, but I live in countryville USA. Talking to someone for a little while would probably tell me all sorts of things pretty quickly. There would be friends of friends (almost always is here) that would know the person after getting a full name. Honestly, I'm still deciding if I want to even engage in conversation with someone not willing or able to type a few paragraphs into an email. Hypothetically speaking anyhow..... Something about this one makes me want to learn more though, and that hasn't happened in a good long while. Hmmmmmmmmmm......

Oh, oh...OH! I SO agree with you on that one, Calleigh!

I was actually going to post a Part Deux to my comment in the "what first attracts you" thread...stating...their VOICE!!!

Someone's voice is VERY important to me!! Weird and shallow as it may sound, it's a critical component for me in attraction to another.

Would say type your best and if I don't understand I'll ask you to explain but i would not call until we had good conversations through emails or chats firsts.
