I don't know about the astigmatism, but I have worn contacts since I was 16 and I love them. My problem is now that I need reading glasses or bifocals. I wonder if they make contacts for that? Bifocal contacts? Not sure how that would work.

I've been having that problem too. They made the contacts bifocal instead of monocle. One contact is a tad weaker then it should be.
It worked!

I have a stigmatism in both eyes.I started wearing contacts about ten months ago.Love them.Wish I had done it before.
They do make them with bifocals, but not for people with stigmatisms. They also run about 700.00 get. So not many people do that.
And your right (S/B).Lots of cool shades out there.drinks

They do make them! All that they do is make one eye's prescription a tiny bit weaker to make them bifocal. I don't pay $700!noway
I pay $150 every 6 months. I wear one pair a month.

The ones that I like have more water content. That allows more oxygen to get to the eye. I only wear them for a month. I buy 6 months at a time.

I prefer to go to an opthamologist for my stigmatism instead of a glasses store.

I could never wear contacts personally. I got this thing about anything bein on my eyeballs. I do wear glasses for readin an doin my crafts. I was prescribed bifocals but I refuse to wear them. I just don't like em. I called my optometrist an found out what my 'scrip was an I now buy over the counter glasses. I get the cute lil ones that I can see over. The lil librarian style ones. They are makin the over the counter ones so cute now. I've got a couple different styles an they're much cheaper than actual 'scrip glasses.

I would never pass a beautiful woman up just because of glasses...
Although, I do have to admit that really thick soda bottle glasses kind of look dorky though...

Other then that, glasses can be pretty sexy but not a requirement... It usually makes the woman look a little more sophisticated and or conservative... ...but I also know that just because someone has glasses on doesn't necessarily make them smart at all...ha!

I wore glasses for a stigmatism for many years then I got contacts... The contacts were ok because they give you a little more confidence in field of view... Your peripheral view is in focus and less obstruction... All and all contacts were still a pain in the *** though.. They rip easy, they get dirty and itch your eyes... Anyone that has worn contacts consistently for a few years will tell you that there are days where you want to rip them out of your eyes, toss them on the ground and stomp on them... (-;

I finally invested in lasic surgery and am very happy with my new eyes. I now don't have to worry about contacts falling out in the middle of a sparing session or any other time for that matter.... I did notice for awhile after my surgery I needed eye drops because my eyes were quite dry,,,, but that faded with time..

Now I see 20/20 -the only thing I can report that is a little bothersome is I see stars off of lights at night,,, but it's really not that bad and a fair trade in my opinion..

What about getting lazic? biggrin

They do, they are weighted so the bifocal part is always where it needs to be. It takes some patience in getting the right ones to work for you, but they do exist. They also do what I think, if i remember right, is a thing called mono vision... What they do it they give one eye a contact for distance, and one eye a contact for reading. This also takes a lot of patience in getting use to. You basically have to train your eyes so that one looks far and one close up.

I think contacts are great, I don't wear them anymore, but I use to. I have also been thinking about going back and getting them again. You don't have to give up on glasses all together, it's an advantage to pick and choose which you want to wear on what day. I don't always want to wear my glasses, so I just do without. I could save a lot of headaches, literally, if I would just go get contacts.

I've tried wearing contacts but apparantly my eyes are too dry or something. It felt like a potato chip up against my eyeball and I couldnt stand it

I tried going to bifocal a couple years ago and couldnt stant that either. So now I have regular glasses and reading glasses and just switch

but most of the time I dont wear my glasses. I kinda like everything all soft and fuzzy. It makes the whole world look like something from Monet

I also have astigmatism and wear contacts. I have worn them for years with no problem at all. I have a pair of glasses as a back up. The toric lens usually treat the astigmatism, but I just wear non-toric contacts because I do not want to compromise my farsightedness. Try them and see if you like them. Usually Optometrists give you a sample pair to try out. Good luck.

When I worked as an optician, the best part of my job was teaching people how to put contacts in. The reaction you get from people when you say ok, I'm going to take it out for you now and go to grab their eyeball! laugh I would laugh the whole time telling them to stop blinking...

The company I worked for gave the employees a $500 a year allowance for their own glasses and contact needs... I went crazy with contacts. I had sets in all different colors. I thought about seeing about getting a part time job there again just for the allowance!

Ive had bad eyes since birth or since surgery to correct my crossed eyes at two went badly leaving me legally blind in my left eye. Night blindness, near in one eye and far sighted in the other, light sensitive just to name a few problems. Not counting sunglasses I wear three different RX's throughout the day, I switch so often I lose track and realize the hard way that I have on the wrong pair - practically falling down steps is an almost daily occurrence!

No contacts for me!
