Here are some pictures from a couple of canoe trips
we took this year. Anyone else have pics or like to go canoeing? I would like to get in one more trip before the weather turns cold. Good times with good friends. ![]() Beautiful scenery. ![]() What I call the indian wedding chapel. ![]() |

I've gone canoeing up north many a summer with my dad........though he always seemed to take some of the fun out of it being critical of me and yelling about things I wasn't doing right.

Awwww, I'm sorry to hear that Kleisto.

What amazing pics! I wanna go next time! You are more than welcome to go anytime! This year after one full trip without dumping over, I braved the camera......that was the trip that we dumped out over the small "falls" you have to negotiate....hehehe. Luckily the camera was saved by several zip lock bags I had it in. Next time I'm buying a throw away waterproof camera. |

Great pics you shared, Heather...thanks!
![]() Down here in the sunny (HOT/HUMID) South...we call it "paddling". ![]() I LOVE to paddle (canoe), altho it's been years since I've dipped my paddle. Hope to reconnect with the water in that fashion soon...very soon. ![]() |

Where were these pics taken? It looks gorgeous! I've never been canoeing, but I kayak, so I imagine it wouldn't be all that different.

Several people in our groups always kayak. The place we go gives you the choice of either or even tubing. The river is a little slow for tubing though. It is The Mad River in Ohio. Water so clear you can see to the bottom the whole trip. Schools of fish go right under you. Our first trip this year was early in the morning and we saw a Minx and a Muskrat out doing their thing. |

We had a 16 ft canoe, but the ex and the girls complained it was too heavy, it was always a fight to get them to help me load it on the Jeep, portages, etc. So we sold it and bought two kayaks!!!!!!
We each got one in the divorce, and I recently bought a second one so I can go with a friend without having to borrow the other one. Now me and my girls can all go together. Its so nice to get out on a river, enjoy nature and have a bit of fun. Great pics too HGB!!!! |

Those are great pics!
I, however, won't do that again. Went once when in college in Tampa in the Hillsborough River when suddenly a gator that was sitting on the bank slid into the water. THAT broke me of any desire to canoe in the future! ![]() |

Huh, the pics decided to be the right size now.....that's odd.
Anyhow....glad to see some more fellow canoe-ers! How long of a trip do you all take? So far, all of our trips have been a 5 mile "course". We are planning a 10 mile, but I'd like to try out a kayak first and see if it's better on the knees. |

Here's something rather funny......this is what you get when you dump out and land on your hip on the rocks in the shallow river.
EDIT: Apparently that picture is going to be huge until the re-size gets recognized. Sorry! ![]() |
