It was formerly the country of Vlad the Impaler(aka Dracula), and the economic status of the country is very poor currently.

Romania is quite a nice country. I love to travel to Eastern Europe as there is more variety than you think there. I have been to Bulgaria and Poland for holidas and have passed through Romania and Hungary. The landscape is beautiful in places, either by the Black sea or in the mountainous areas.

Romania has various holidays available from Sking holidays to beach resort breaks. There are of course your traditional European cities with medievil squares and villages. There is transylvania and the dracula tours. bucharest is most peoples destination as the capital, but you don't really get to see the real Romania there.

Post communist Romania is still a poor country but has one of the fastest growing economies in Europe. they joined the EU recently and have made changes to their political system.

The country is now driving towards a tourism economy and you will find that the people, like most eastern European countries are friendly, but still seem tucked up in their own way of life.

I reccommend that you go

in the citys are many begging children...beware of the streets....if you drive over the countryside it could happen that the street ends or going into a not save part.
the toilets are horrible....in the citys they have toilets like you would know...but outside of the towns...beware...

I agree. I also noticed that the women are swarthy; their skin is dark, and their eyes are baggy in a rather non-attractive way. The men are tall, handsome, swarthy and hairy. They have the V-shaped receding hairline, some call it male-patterned baldness. That's why Frankenstein and Vlad are always shown that way, plus all the werevolves and vampires too.

The food is horrible. It's too spicy or too bland. Sometimes you go for a meal in a restaurant and they tell you "that's not on the menu today... we ran out of those... sorry, no more..." so you say, bring me what you got and they'll bring you a bowl of hot water with a cooked whole onion in it. That's not bad enough? The onion is sometimes undercooked!

Salt, pepper, ketchup are not available separately.

The trains are filty, and the rental cars are small, smelly and sm... sm... smitten. Lots of previous renters hit it and had collisions.

The people don't speak English outside of large centres, and the large centres don't have many English speakers, even rudimentary ones.

People wear rags and in the countriside, they wear clothes made of corn leaves.

Toilet paper? You are joking. They are a myth. In Hotel Intercontinental and in Hilton you will find these slips of brown paper that are smooth and shiny on one side, sort of glossy like a photo, and on the other side they are sandpaper. Or so it feels. The sandpaper actually takes the shi+ off.

Soap, even running water, is a national treasure, kept under seven lucks.

The hookers are horrible. They don't speak English, and it's impossible to negotiate with them. You don't know what you're buying -- I had a sweet seventeen-year old, her father was peddling her, and after I handed her the money, she said seventeen hail marys and lords prayers, then courtsied and exeunt left. I am a god-fearing upright American, so I felt better this way than if she gave me a wild and sinful time in bed, but still.

Yes, please don't go there. It's very bad there, stay away from Eastern/Central Europe.

Let's save at least one little place on the planet from the insanity of US and UK.
