IBM Might Extend Moore's Law With DNA-based Chip Technology By Joseph F. Kovar, ChannelWeb 5:23 PM EDT Mon. Aug. 17, 2009 Looks like Moore's Law may be extended into the indefinite future, thanks to IBM (NYSE:IBM)'s development of chip-building technology that uses a DNA-like structure as a "scaffold." IBM researchers, working with the California Institute of Technology, on Monday said they have collaborated in combining lithographic patterning with self-assembly to devise a method of arranging DNA "origami" structures on surfaces compatible with current semiconductor manufacturing equipment. IBM called its approach "scaffolding," a method in which millions of carbon nanotubes could be deposited and self-assembled into precise patterns by sticking to the DNA molecules. The company expects the technology to eventually lead to the development of denser chips by using sub-22 nanometer lithography. more here: http://www.crn.com/storage/219400285;jsessionid=R2HNMFJNSPX1NQE1GHPCKH4ATMY32JVN |

Yeah. Intel's been kinda toying with the idea of DNA-based processor design for a couple of years now. They were also trying to figure out how to make use of photon-based CPU interconnects (that use light instead of electricity) for at least a decade now.

man will soon be extinct from such technology
will be interesting wonder if man could possibly win the war with self scaffolding artificial intelligence that is solar powered very interesting |
