Books, DVDs and video games are things that never seem to come back no matter who you loan them to, how good a friend they are, or how long the loan term is presumed to be. Seems I could loan people just about anything and get it back, but if it's a book, DVD, or video game, if I can't afford to give it away, I don't loan it out. Sorry for your loss.

man that just seems to be the case. thanks.

what sucks is the artbook that came with it inside the dvd pack... dang.

people suck.

yep, they totally do....

Materials things are only objects and can be replace.

If it was a once in a life time photos or anything that can't be replace, then maybe you can rant but a movie hummmm need to get your priorities down.

If you can't accept things not coming back then the best way not to lose anything is not to lend anything.

That's such a crock. Sorry. It may be an object, and it's certainly replaceable, but if I spent the money for it or it came to me some other way, and I kept it, then it dang sure as all get out meant something to me. That's an excuse to let thieves get away with everything.

And lets be honest, lack of respect about a persons objects, is a lack of respect about that person. At that point what's the difference over the lack of respect within a marriage?!

BINGO!!!

thats what i'm sayin! i mean if you can't respect someone's things... then you apparently can't respect that someone in general. its bogus to use the "its just an object" excuse.

that dvd was an import i bought when it first came out. it was a first pressing. I paid out the nose for it.

and loved it.

but the point was how little respect he had for me to procrastinate for such a long time.

A friend of mine married a guy totally unsuitable to her. He used to have raging temper tantrums, and break objects, mirrors, and put his fist through walls. She put up with it, as it was only objects. Then he hit her. FINALLY she decided that enough was enough.

She knew my feelings on it from the first. If you can't respect the things, then there's no respect for the person. I knew that eventually he would hit her, and just hoped it wouldn't be the kids that got it. It was bad enough that everyone lived in fear of him going off.

I only rarely let anyone borrow books, and that's to folks more in my parents range who understand respect. I've got over $1000.00 worth of books that I'll eventually have to re-buy because friends in my age didn't return them. And that's not counting the one ex who just plain kept some knowing it would piss me off. Books that were b-day and xmas presents from relatives with names, dates, location when they were given, noted in the front cover. Incidental history that's gone now.

No worries, Mob. I have my own tools. LOL! And they're aren't pink...

Now my dad's stuff, however... He sprays his stuff flourescent hot pink so the guys at his jobs won't steal them. Works good that way.
