Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that government alternative to private health insurance is "not the essential element" of the administration's health care overhaul. The White House would be open to co-ops, she said

from the begining of this bill that has been what was being pushed as the biggest problem with our health care.

Now it's not and it will prob be dropped?

Don't you find it convenient that when faced with an overwhelming opposition to this that all of a sudden they are willing to change it.

Could the change come due to the fact that the 2010 elections are just around the corner and a lot of dems were fearing of losing their seats?

drinker drinker The majority of employer based health insurance requires you go on medicare when you become social security age. Your insurance will become the secondary payer and medicare will become the main primary payer. Been that way for many years. So cutting medicare will ONLY drive the cost up on YOUR insurance premiums even faster than they have been!!!

So what? Would you suggest we put a few folks down yourself? Your right behind me fella, it will blow your mind how fast you go from 37 to 57. I sure hope nothing unfortunate ever happens to you, and no one is there for you. Many of your own fellow human beings won't give a flying crap what happens to you. That must sound good to you, huh?

I typed out a long response to what you acuse me of believing, then decided an ignorant response like that deserves no further comment.frustrated Like Obama said they don't need the surgery just give them more pain medicine! Next you'll tell me he didn't say that.

I listened to it twice. I think you're taking it out of context.

He made it clear that decisions would be between physicians and patients. He's saying that the patient should know all of the options and see what works the best and it's still the patient's call.

He said that he doesn't want beaurocracy making the decisions like they are now - insurance companies. He wants it to be our decision with our doctor.

I understand this. A good friend of mine had a very old mother that was diagnosed with breast cancer. The mother and the doctor decided to not undergo chemotherapy because of her age and there was no guarantee about the outcome. The chemo would been terribly difficult for her to endure at that age. I think that her doc was a good doctor for not aggressively pushing her into doing the chemo.
