Yes it is ok to lie to someone you love. In fact, sometimes I think you should avoid the truth at all costs. Sometimes there are comforts in lies that cannot be found anywhere else. When my father was dying of cancer, he would routinely lie to my mother about how badly he was feeling to spare her the frustration and pain that the truth would have put her through. Sometimes we need to lie about our feelings to bolster our partner. I remember going through a tough financial patch and telling my wife how it would be alright because I could feel it in my gut. A lie. But it made her feel a little bit better in a dark time. I feel no guilt in that. I remember times when I was growing up that I did things I shouldn't have done. My father and I talked things out and I really learned my lessons from those talks. If my mother would ask what was going on, my father would tell her that he wasn't sure, but that she should give me the time and the space to work things out on my own. He wanted me to learn what I needed to know while protecting my privacy. I think we should be careful about making blanket statements. ALWAYS telling the truth means that sometimes you will hurt the ones you love needlessly. Exactly! That's what I was trying to say earlier but it came out all, "Banana chores in the cabbage patch." |

Yeah Katz...
here is a cheesy little internet story (urban myth) that kind of gives another example... Girl and guy were speeding over 100 mph on a motorcycle. Girl: Slow down. I'm scared. Guy: No this is fun. Girl: No it's not. Please, it's too scary! Guy: Then tell me you love me. Girl: Fine, I love you. Slow down! Guy: Now give me a BIG hug. (Girl hugs him). Guy: Can you take my helmet off and put it on? It’s bugging me. In the paper the next day: A motorcycle had crashed into a building because of break failure. Two people were on the motorcycle, but only one survived. The truth was that halfway down the road, the guy realized that his breaks broke, but he didn't want to let the girl know. Instead, he had her say she loved him, felt her hug one last time, then had her wear his helmet so she would live even though it meant he would die. ==== I think it all boils down to the intention of the lie. |

Tell the truth. It is easier to remember. "oh what a tangled web we weave when we choose to deceive..." Chronic liars can't keep track of the lies. |

Yes, I believe it's ok to lie sometimes.
True story: I was driving home late from the bar I worked at and came across a car parked crazy in the street. Half in the driveway, half in the road. I stopped and saw an older man asleep at the wheel. I knocked and he didn't wake up. I opened the door and felt for a pulse. He had passed away. I walked up to the house where an old lady answered the door. I asked if she was waiting for her husband and she replied yes. I told her I needed to call 911 he was unconsious outside. She asked if he was alive and I said yes I had checked his pulse. We waited with her husband until the ambulance arrived and I stayed with her until her daughter arrived. Best lie I ever told. |

I guess I'm old school...honesty is the best policy. Lies have a way of coming back to haunt you. Honesty in the beginning is much better than explaining (and recovering from) a lie.

Everybody lies.. it just depends on the lie.an affair I would want to know about,an out fit that you like but the other dont thats an opinion, but if you ask..well it's an gray area,I don't won't to walk out of the hous looking horrid, but ??Like if money keep disappearing & they can't or won't tell you,or where they are when thewy are susppose to be working..Lies,lies.lies..to many.little lies, lie you look beautiful to me ,& no other will ever comepare ok.like i paid the water bill, but nope turns out they really didn't,see where I'm going,
everybody lies,if you love someone you may lie to protect them..not yourself...and eventually it all comes out..you cant keep up with evey lie you tell & to whom..and why..so its best not to or to have to..But we all will lie at some point for some reason.. |
