When I am in my darkest hour
And I can see no light
Everything that surrounds me has given up the fight
I call out your name
Waiting to see if you hear my call
Begging that I do not fall
Before you come
I cannot do it all
I am afraid and alone
So I call out your name

I can hear your footsteps coming through the shadows
Your shouts to me crossing my ears in intermittent bursts
Calling out to me that you are coming
"Do not be afraid
You are not alone
I am coming
Just hold on"
In your hand you carry a candle to light my way
The light bobbing and weaving
Catching on the walls that surround me
Giving me brief glimpses

The walls are not so high
It is not so dark
I am not alone
Faces peering over the edge
Looking at me
Smiles and comfort etched in them
Hands reaching down for mine
Grasping them tightly
And I am not alone
Beneath me your strong hands and arms lifting me up

I ask you why you carry me so
You look away in thought
Whispering to me
"I carry you because I love you
Because I can, because you are afraid
Because you are all that I have ever needed
I carry you because you need me"

As I am lifted and pulled over the edge
Into the safety of the light
I think about your answer
You love me, need me
And I know I need you, love you
And I am not alone
Into your eyes I gaze
Seeing all your passions that blaze and burn within your soul
All of your desires and hopes
Your dreams and fantasies
Your realities and thoughts
In them all I see myself
In your heart is where I reside
In your arms is where I find home
I am not alone....
