I get it quite often.. I usually try to walk it off and if that does'nt work I take a muscle relaxer...

I have it! Didn't even know what it was until a couple years ago but I've had it since I was way little. I've actually managed to combat it by cutting all stimulants out of my diet though. not just caffeine but sugars too. I still have it, but its nowhere near as noticeable. As for you getting to sleep tonight, try drinking something that will help you relax. Warm milk or something similar.

I have worked with patients that have this syndrome, they are given medications, do not recall right off hand I would have to look them up.

My Dad has it while he's sleeping. He takes medicine for it.

maybe Jim Beam

I can't drink milk. the phosphorus in milk actually makes it much worse.

part of the corrolary is that I dont have any kidneys and kidneys regulate phosphorus. and restless legs follows the phosphorus level

so no chocolate, no sodas (except root beer), no milk, cheese, no coffee (and THAT is my weakness)

haha I cant even sit down much less try to sleep

EDIT: I take the maximum dose of requip but I've never nbeen able to tell if it helps any

Do you have anything you can take? Pain killer or muscle relaxer? If not maybe a hot bath...

yeah sometimes a heating pad helps

but its still 95 degrees at 12:30 haha

if I get really desperate I can take a massive dose of vicodin and knock myself out. but I have to be up early tomorrow and that makes it hard

Yeah a heating pad, even a bath when it's hot doesn't sound like a good idea.. But it may help.. How about 1/2 of the knock out dose, that might abate the symptoms...

Common thing for guys. But should be checked out with your MD. Can be a side effect of medication, heat fatigue, or something more serious.

Sometimes spactisity can be relieved with eating foods high in potassium; sweet potatoe, apricots, bananas. Drinking more fluids.

Not sleeping where there is a draft on the spastic muscles.

Not restricting the limbs with heavy covers or dangleing the feet off the end of a recliner or sofa with heavy shoes seems to reduce muscle fatigue. Avoid extreamly hot showers or bath.

Frequently it can be treated effectively with a prescription.

Good Luck

maybe but if I hover around in that twighlite zone between awake and asleep its REALLY bad. better to just go straight oh-you-tee and skip that phase

I think I'm gonna go walk along the highway a bit and see if that helps. its after midnight so there is no traffic. just rattlesnakes coming out for the warmth from the road haha
