I find it interesting that you chose to compare a mythological creature with a large, but nimble and intelligent mammal we fear that exists in an environment foreign to humans. Something fishy, indeed...
First of all, I don't think being overweight can be equated with an animal that swims almost incessantly to an ice cream eating, overweight mammal who chooses not to exercise.
Secondly, as humorous as your diatribe might be to some people, the fact that being obese is not only ungainly and annoying to those who have to be subjected to their girth, but is also medically and socially unsound thinking. 15 minutes a day could easily alleviate the problem in most people, but they instead choose to intake more than their output of calories and then justify it by leaning on social prejudices as their mantra. And NOBODY enjoys being ostricized.
Lastly, coffee, family and intelligence or experience hardly contribute to obesity; if anything, they'd cause you to lose weight(caffeine, insomnia and the knowledge of your physical demise!), unless you lived with house full of couch potatoes!

Interesting post! Over all. Will give the previous entry his point but zero stars for nasty attitude. Obesity is a much more complicated problem than that narrow view.

I will have to disagree with a few points here. For one, 15 minutes a day does not easily alleviate the problem in most people.
Another....it's not all about the choice of one's intake of calories. There are other factors too. Thirdly, intelligent people with families that are not couch potatoes have problems with weight.

Nice touch of humor....Reality says that being obese is bad for your health that's a given. But denying yourself that ice cream cone and living in fear of gaining a pound adds up to the loss of much happiness. Denial may be good for the body but it plays havoc with your happiness meter. The key is balance, don't glut but don't deny yourself either. Project the beauty of the mermaid through poise and confidence no matter your weight and live life happily like the whale~ Just a thought....

Geez, people...it was a copy/paste from something I found witty & a reflection on human values. It was a) not my own creation and b) it wasn't supposed to be in support of obesity or in judgement about being slim and fit. noway

(This is why I rarely start threads! Egads!)
