Topic: 2 weeks notice? | |
---|---|
A few days ago I mentioned that I may be going back to school this fall
to one person I work with. Yesterday my boss called me and asked me to give 2 months notice before I quit. Do you think that is appropriate? Or is 2 weeks enough. (it would only take that long for someone to be trained in) |

it depends on the work you do, and your level of commitment to the
company. if possible, i'd do as they asked, if only to ensure a good reference. |
School is more important but 3wks is enough--------what's the most
important to you. |
Unless you're building a particle accelerator, I would think 2 weeks
would be sufficient.... |
your boss cant keep you there...you are doing him a favor by letting him
know in advance |
lmao!!!!!

Definetly school. It's not the best company in the world. I hate to
say it, but I wish I could quit now but I'm gonna stick it out. |
lmao, thanks lex, you do have a good point

Would your boss give you 2 months notice before he fired you? Two weeks
is more than enough notice. |
I doubt it. I would give them 2 months, but with my luck they would
hire someone and have them trained in a few weeks and then "let me go" b/c they have someone to replace me |

Dunno about in the U.S.A but in Canada you dont have to give any
notice. You can just simply quit but it's good to give a notice like lulu 24 said. And like other people have stated would he give you 2 months notice.I dont think so. |
just depends on the job and the situation...if i was in management, you
bet your ass i'd give a good notice. i'd also have myself covered JUST in case they chose to let me go before my notice was played out. |
Girl!!!!Considered it their loss move on to bigger and better things.
I agree w/ you lulu. I'm not management but I think they finally
realized that I work my tail off compared to other employees. |
Isn't the "notice" letting your boss know in advance that you're going
to quit? Welp, looks like he already knows, so why is he asking you to give "notice?" He should be thinking of a replacement in the very near future, and should ask you how long you plan to stay on, and act accordingly, so far as hiring someone for training and what not. |

2 weeks is definately enough. you dont have to give more than 2 weeks.
but depeneding on how you feel about your boss and that company, then you migh twant to give them more. depends on your feelings with everything |
