I finally met someone on this site. It was nice until he showed up and told me that he had met someone else. Nothing against me he says. If it doesn't work out with her he wants to come back. It was great. I don't think I will ever have the courage to do something like that again. It took a lot for me to put myself out there and I got smacked down. Nope not again.

What is the three day rule?

"A rule established by the norms of society about the contact information received by people on the dating scene.

Scenario: A man receives a phone number from a woman in public. If he calls on day one, he will seem desperate. If he calls on day two, he will appear as if his interest is too strong and still desperate. However, if he waits until day three, he appears genuinely interested, and not clingy or needy."

but just talkin to him made me feel fuzzy inside

I know the feeling. I would say go ahead and send a short message in reference to the conversation you had. Keep it light. He is probably in the same boat you are.

Don't think about it too much or you will do what I do. type-delete-type-delete LOL

I hope it works out for ya. flowerforyou

so late last night on this site i had a conversation with a guy .. in my own town that was so awesome it gave me sweet dreams (get your mind outta the gutter).

so its the next night... and i'm scared.

i'm scared if i message him he'll feel weirdly smothered or whatever.

but i'm scared if i don't ... he won't message me and it would have all been a fluke.

its very hard to explain.

what should i do?

surprised

No rules here do what you desire and let him worry about the why's and what next. Always hated those unwritten rules I wanna say hi I do.

Send a short, simple message of hi, how are, what's going on, I want to bear your children. Well... maybe not the "what's going on" that might be too much. bigsmile

Anyway, just be yourself. If you want to say hi, say hi. He might be sitting there with the same thoughts of "I don't know what to do". go for it!

Best of luck, Chickie! drinker

You could let him know you enjoyed the last conversation.
It's just an email.

Better yet nudge him!!!

If you want, send him a short message like "I had fun."

That way, he knows you are interested but you didn't demand anything.

You have jogged his memory that he had fun too.

The "shortness" doesn't appear clinging or immature.

It is an honest expression of how you feel.

If that scares him off ... you would have had problems anyway.

Don't worry so much. If you want to message him, go for it.

I agree!

Send him a kick-in-the-butt nudge.

No easy answer on this one doll.....not gonna push you in one way or the other cause guys are retarded and there is no telling what a dude may be thinking.

I can only speak for myself.....I learned a while back...if you see something you want...GO FOR IT.

Playing shy or coy...or beating around the bush has gotten me nowhere. Just be upfront and honest and it will either pan out or it won't.

This is one of those situations that you can easily second guess yourself right out of a fair shot at a relationship.

Well, I've never believed in the 3 Day Rule...if you feel like chatting...do it! If he gets skeered off, he wasn't man enough for you anyway!

Exactly flowerforyou A short note/email/text to say hello is NOT smothering.. it shows interest on yoru part. If he can't handle that.. then look at it this way: if you have to alter who you are from step one what the heck will the rest be like?? Always be yourself

Don't let that one stupid game hurt you. That same BS goes on on the other side of a computer screen in real life as well. Nothing like being played for "Plan B." Women have done that one to me more than once but I have yet to experience that online. I actually have yet to meet anyone on this site but hey, if you give up now you are a quitter and nobody likes a quitter!

Like any web date site you are going to have to cross paths with losers and they come in male and female flavors! My favorite are the flakes, gold diggers, and opportunists trolling around for a sugar daddy or prince. Then there are the scammers! Like life nothing is safe, nothing is really guaranteed, and in the end its your a@@ on the line.

No FEAR!

So do we get a follow up post about what you did and how it turned out??? I mean, with all the varying responses it might be nice to know what works and what doesn't!
