I was born & raised in Orlando, Fl. & my Dad worked for Martin Marrieta & NASA...shuttle lift-offs were commonplace for us...I was also present when the Challenger exploded... 
Yeah...as my ex & I were watching it I said "Umm...that don't look so good..." My Dad died shortly after...  thats cool. shame i bet your dad had some great storys to tell

Yea...he was always bringing home weird stuff to decorate our rooms with...old computer tape, big glossy photos of rockets...he was a tech engineer & designed some components for the first Lunar Land Module & the old Saturn rockets...we were good little space geeks!

i was on vacation in florida 21 wks ago when the last one went up. we were at epcot and got to watch it take off, it was the coolest thing i have ever seen in real life. i live in houston and NASA has always been huge here. but i have never seen the space shuttle take off from home.
