1/2 cup butter 3/4 cup sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla 2 tsp vanilla 1-1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt preheat oven to 325 degrees cream butter til light.add sugar,beat til smooth and creamy.beat ineggs and vanilla.mix in dry ingredients,then beat just til smooth.on a lightly floured board,divide dough in half and form each half into a long roll,about 1 1/2 inches diameter and 10 inches long.set rolls on a cookie sheet about two inches apart. bake in the top third of the oven for about 25 minutes or until they are set and lightly brown on top.cool the rolls for five mintues,then slice diagonally into slices about 1/2 onch thinck.stand the slices on the cookie sheet and return to the oven for 15-20 minutes til dry.cool ona rack and store in a tightly covered container. a simple biscotti..goes great with coffee or tea.....teasingbrunette (I have added coconut...tried some different spices..for variations..:) |

I visited a girl in Boston years ago and we made some. Fresh ones are so much better than the store-bought version ... there is just no comparison.

I don't remember exactly what we made as we made several varieties.
I think it was almond/cherry, pistachio/almond, vanilla/almond, and a couple of others. They were great. And teasingbrunette has provided the "way". Good Job. |
