I know no one here is a doctor but I can't really seem to find anything on the internet. hoping someone on here has had or at lest know someone who has had this.
I have been having really bad pressure in my upper abdominal and seems to get worse after I eat anything. It only happens in the evening, its not my gallbladder cause I don't have one. I have never felt this kind of pressure an pain before. I do plan on going to the doc if it happens again tonight. It got bad last night, real sharp shooting pains prob 30mins after dinner, then the pains would come in waves an lasted for about 2-3hrs. anyone know or have any idea? |

Could be lots of things, kidney stones, appendicitis, ulcer, gas, heartburn. Do you have a fever or any other symptoms? Scale of 1-10, how bad is the pain? Doubling over, gasping for breath pain or just I know it's there pain but it's not bad? Any nausea? Vomiting?
I'm not sure that it's worth an ER visit unless the pain is intense and/or you have other worrisome symptoms but I wouldn't wait on calling the doctor either. |

have you noticed any other type of pattern? Do you eat alot of spicy or greasy foods?

at times the pain would jump to an 8 then it would be 5-6 not to bad. I could stand it for the most part.
I don't eat spicy or greasy foods. was not nauseated and did not vomit. I don't really wanna go to the ER. its not that bad, I know its not gas or heart burn. I did try to take an antacid but it didn't help with anything. |

I wouldn't wait for it to happen again, if you have pain at 5-6 levels, jumping to 8? That's pretty severe pain and indicates something is wrong.
At the very least, call your doctor and explain to the nurse what's been going on and see what they say. But I really, really wouldn't wait. |

I had a pain right below my rib cage on the left side. Sometimes if I had eaten too much bread or had too much milk it would hurt in that area. Once I reduced the bread, I didn't have the issue. My doctor tried to give me ulcer meds, but I don't like having to take too many pills. Had it continued though, I would have looked closer at the problem. Hope this helps, if not I hope you figure it out.

It sounds to me like what you are experiencing is acid reflux. After eating your stomach releases strong acids to continue to breakdown and digestion of food. There is a sphincter type muscle at the top of your diaphragm that under normal circumstances closes to keep the stomach acid from coming back up from the stomach and into the esophagus. When that muscle becomes weak or stretched, it is unable to keep the acid from doing that and causes the condition we know as acid reflux. It can often feel like a very bad heartburn and sometime also causes severe bloating.
Another possibility is that you could have a hiatal hernia. That is where a portion of the stomach itself comes through that sphincter muscle and enters into the chest cavity. There is a lot of information to be found on the net and I am certain that a simple search for “acid reflux” will reveal more information than you care to read. Not to worry however. This condition is can be easily treated and I for one would suggest some of the natural remedies over any sort of medication. For example, organic cider vinegar taken a couple of times a day in with a little water and maybe some honey will produce even more stomach acid and cause your stomach to digest foods more thoroughly and faster often bringing much relief. A couple of simple suggestions: Try not to eat after 6:30 PM or so or at least three hours before sleep. Remain upright for at least 30 minutes or an hour after eating. No lying down or bending over. Elevate the head of your bed by 6”8” Foods to avoid: Peppermint Chocolate Tomato based products Citrus, to name a few. I hope this helps a little bit! Michael |
