did you know that freddy kruger was real in real life. a friend of mine way before she was born, her parents had lived in cal. where the killing were happening, and in one of the scenes where it shows the families burning freddy alive. that is actually how he really died..

Sorry, not buying that one. Freddy Krueger was named after a childhood bully of Wes Craven's. The burned look came from a homeless man from Craven's hometown. Some of the other incidents portrayed in the film were based off of articles Craven read involving teens in Cambodia.

Besides, if these killings really happened in California and Craven based the film on it- New Line would have been all over it to promote the film, "Based On A True Story"- no horror film would turn down that opportunity.

Yeah. Craven DID get some inspiration when he did the whole "Nightmare on Elm Street" thing, but it WAS NOT from a real-life event!

Anywhoo- the reason why corporate Hollywood keeps remaking movie after movie is because you have a bunch of talentless suits running things into the ground. They wouldn't know what makes a "GOOD" movie if it reared up and bit them in the face.

They're all about making as much profit (and skimming as money they can) as is humanly possible, and NOT about actually entertaining the public. Of course, this is to be expected as most of those up in corporate Hollywood have actually come from the dregs of Wall Street.

It's a well-known fact that a number of Junk-Bond king Michael Millken's crooked associates have migrated their way into the film business, where they can steal just as much as they did in the NYSE... only with nowhere NEAR the oversight. In short, it's ALL about the greed and the all-important "golden parachute" with those types.

But I digress- the reason why remakes keep being released is because it's lazy film-making. After all... why spend the time and energy on an ORIGINAL property that might or might NOT be a success when you can keep rehashing the same ol' same ol'? After all... you already own the rights to the IP... the storyline's already pretty much set up... and you can even hire the actors in the original films to do cameo performances, provided they're still alive, that is.

It's just an easy way to take an easy way out. It's auto-pilot film-making at its worst.

And BTW- Hollywood has been sucking quite hard at making movies for at least the last decade, and probably longer than that.

That would definitely explain The Hills Have Eyes 2(1984), especially giving the dog the flashback scenes
