Traffic is painful and I sometimes do have a lot of choice words for it, but the pain just doesn't end.

I am not in traffic anymore but when I was, it really didn't bother me all that much, I just had a book with me.. however if I had to be somewhere on time I couldn't concentrate on the book and would grumble a bit.. Happily getting older does wonders for your temperment. Nothing riles me much any more, but injury still gets the best of me for a second or two.

if you think about it...psychologist do say not to bottle things up and let it all out...so this article makes sense to me. or I could just have a potty mouth laugh

Ya, lucky for me I learned that one fairly young, but frankly I just like to cuss, just not so often I get bored with it. lol

well I do know when to control myself...but some words do naturally slip when I'm not watching it. my grandmother was old school and did the soap thing from kids to grand kids...and ironically...I was the only one that never got my mouth washed out with soap and I was the worst one lol. everyone else got it for smarting off....I was smart and didn't do that (to her face) lol

Ya our generation was big on the soap thing, but generations after that the soap stopped working it seems. Always though it was barbaric actually. And it only worked temporarily anyway. My mother was fond of it, I'd be blowing bubbles for weeks. I got the message the third time but as you said I just learned when to do it and when not. That is why I think most punishments are lack of creative thinking, because they are only temporary and it will happen even more when the opportunity arises.. But when I left home, I made up for lost time, and cussed my fool head off...

the soap thing reminds me of that movie "A Christmas Story"

some people still use that method...I've never used it on my son....so I don't know

The best way would have been to not allow her friends to cuss around her kids, since they tend to repeat everything you say. The kid has no clue what he is saying, he just knows that some get mad at him and others laugh, which really only encourages the kid and the confusion will come later when he doesn't understand why people want him to stop. The first time he said it I thought it was funny because of the way he said it, I figured he would move on to another word that was not so shocking but that didn't happen, after a couple of times it's so not cute, especially when you know he will face some confusing times in school for the first time.

Well I must admit it is pretty funny at first. Of course when they are defying you when you asking them to behave or to go to bed or whatever and the tell you to f off BI#ch, something registers as a big problem.. And at 3 years old? Yikes..

boo...THAT is extreme lol. but my nephew just couldn't pronounce his T's. We tried and tried to teach him. we had to explain to people that he had a hard time with his T's lol. I never really had a problem with Adam cussing when he was young though. if he said something...I let him know that is an ugly word (I didn't cuss around him lol)

one time him and his dad were playing a game ___________ head. they would call the other carrot head o puppy head or something...then Adam called his dad pen1s head laugh I had to leave the room so he didn't see me laughing

Oh ya for got about that one, but this one called his grandma's boyfriend a di(khead, I about lost it, frankly it was true, but I worry about him cussing as much as he does, that he will not be able to stop by school.

There has to be a way short of antiquated methods like soap and beatings, which clearly do no work on this little guy. LOL

I don't know if they even are at this point, they moved away, I just visited them a few days ago and noticed he was worse. I just don't think they have enough cooperation between family members to be consistent.

No my worry but it would be if he were my child.
