If they are local I would probably wait until I had talked several times on IM and then on the phone. I would not give them a phone number that would track back to my home address or tell them exactly where I live for well over a month. Maybe not until I had actually met them in a very public place. It is real easy to create a persona on line and in person if you don't get a good vibe then it is pretty much done. Once you meet on another public date should be when you start exchangeing basic identifying info. Require a drivers license or state ID. They don't have social security numbers but you can find out if they have a criminal record. If they do not want to; forget it; they are married or some other baloney.

And by the way this goes both ways guys. Don't be suckered by a pretty face or the illusion you can protect yourself from a female. Not many male victims want to admidt when they have been assaulted or other wise ripped off so some women can repeat making men victims over and over before they get caught. Usually they have kids and accomplices.

If they're local I'm fine with meeting up that night, if not within the first hour. People hide too much online and on the phone (like shyness and how they really look) and I think it's better to just get it out of the way. I can say everything in person that I would on the internet and I never worry about them pulling any crap on me. It's just like finding someone you like when you're out and about, except with a short primer.
