I don't care everybody is WRONG laugh...... Just because I set my a.c. at work down to 32* every single day and wear summer clothing (every else wears sweaters) and have a fan on my desk right on top of my computer. So what if I wake up 2,000 times a night and grab ice cubes to suck on while I'm trying to go back to sleep . I take cool showers half the time because it gets to steamy. I freeze my water bottles and defrost them on my forehead so I can drink them faster. It dose'nt mean I'm having hot flashes does it?? frustrated frustrated frustrated mad mad explode bigsmile

Actually it could be something else. You might want to the talk to the doctor about it. They can do a blood test to find out if it's "hot flashes" or not.

How long does it last? I've heard that true hot flashes only last several seconds to several minutes.

But while having them.. it feels like eternity!!! Hot flashes s*ck!!

I'm right there with ya OP.. you're NOT alone. I don't seem to get them much during the night..just during the day, several times a day. Black Cohash seem's to help. And for restless nights of nonexistant sleep.. Melatonin helps wonders! asleep

yeah ,I heard about Black Cohash...I might try it but I am do for a yearly anyhow maybe I'll wait. The night sweats are the worse, I felt like the exorcist last night. Then I ended up taking a 3 hour nap in the afternoon right next to the ac on the couch. I'm good now!

I got the blood tests and was menopausal. I started taking estroven (herbal over the counter meds) and they really helped. I had to switch to a low dose estrogen until I was past menopause. Good Luck!

If you think the people around you don't notice, or that you can hide it, think again.
Please see your family Doctor and find a plan that works for you.
It made life very difficult for me and my ex wife. After we divorced she said."Oh, I am on low dose estrogen replacement now"

Great, a little late though.

Get some relief.

Be sure to check with your doctor. They will likely run a battery of tests and can probably put you on something to help. Some people prefer the natural meds like black cohosh, others use estrogens, etc. There is treatment, so check with your doctor, you don't need to suffer like this.

Estroven saved my sanity!!!!! Lucky me got to start menopause early, thanks to a hysterectomy when I was 32. I can't take hormones of any kind (not even low dose), but Estroven has really helped, especially with the mood swings. The doc suggested supplementing with B12 and another multi-vitamin, and things really smoothed out once they all took effect. MUCH easier than walking stark nekkid into a snowstorm to cool off, hehe!

I tried the Estroven supplements, they didn't work for me. I found that Menopause Trio works better.
