Ok, so who here has read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy (the same guy who did "No Country for Old Men"), and is excited for the movie coming out this October (which has Viggo Mortensen as the lead)? I thought the book was excellent, but I don't know how the movie will turn out. McCarthy is an interesting writer, I like how he doesn't use quotations for the dialouge. And "Blood Meridian" is a masterpeice, just had to put that out there. lol

I've been a big fan of McCarthy for a long time. Unfortunately i can't share your enthusiasm for The Road. Unlike his earlier works this one is long on mood, but never really manages to get beyond the thin veneer of fatalism.

I whole heartedly agree with your assessment of Blood Meridian, one of the most bone chilling descents into the violent heart of modern man ever written.
