"Deathrace 2000" was a movie directed by Roger Corman. It was set in the "not so far future", where vehicular manslaughter has essentially turned into a kind of spectator sport. In other words- you race around various towns and get points for killing pedestrians, from children to pets to the elderly.

It was also one of Sylvester Stallone's first appearances in a non-porn movie (he's been in a couple of them, you know?) and was recently remade as a vehicle-on-vehicle shootout movie starring Jason Statham.

Oh.. I missed that one. But, yes, I run over people like that.

Well... the Roger Corman-directed movie was made way back in the 70's, so chances are that you haven't seen it at all. Not only that, but it wasn't that good a movie, either.

The Jason Statham version is MUCH more recent, which means you have no excuse for missing that one... if only for the fact Jason Statham was in it, right?

Roger Corman was a low-budget director who made a bunch of low-budget titles from the late fifties to the eighties. He was kind of the Quentin Tarantino of the era, in that most of his films were all low budget to the extreme.

Despite this, a number of notable notables have worked on his movies, including Shelly Winter, Ron and Clint Howard, and James Cameron (who worked as an art director and special effects dudes in his earlier movies).

I don't know who Jason Statham is either.

I actually find that "Bruno" movie rather "meh...", actually. If nothing else, it's just another version of "Borat", but with a gay German dude instead. There'd have to be some new material and schtick for me to be interested.
