I have women who are nothing more than friends to me and I have no sexual interest in them. When they do become interested I am not for my reasons. One of them is how weird women can get assuming suddenly that we have something going on when we don't and that is what men fear! This assumption is not without its merit. I had a FWB go psycho on me and suddenly she was acting like she loved me and the possessiveness and attitude got to me.

It is hard to have cake and not want seconds and thirds. Trust me, dealing with dry spells is not fun but getting hot in the crotch doesn't help a lot either. Unfortunately starving dogs snap at meat and that means that we all can make bad mistakes letting our appetites drive us. STDs only complicate this mess we are in. All I can say is coping is about all you can do as you search for what you are looking for.

So far I have had only one FWB in my life no go suddenly south to Weirdsville.

Even us guys are all screwed up about FWB relationships and relationships in general. I have had my moments where I got a taste of honey and wanted more only to be met with Rejection. It does go both ways.

Please do not forget that men are subject to Fight or Flight impulses. Women have their impulsive acts that can be just as bad as just walking out on someone. Trust me, fear makes ANYONE do strange and messed up things. Men with no spine act like this in the face of free tail! This is coming from a man who is hornier than a Two Peckered Billy Goat. There have been women in my past who were not anyone I would want in bed with me for any reason but there is a fine line between class and lack there of. if you really want to get a scared man in bed he needs to be gradually coaxed. he could be scared for a number of reasons, married/involved, he has a dirty little secret (fetish, tendency, STD ), gay, religious (and he does want to do it out of wedlock), or had a woman go psycho on him and he needs to come back into the arena gradually.

Best you can hope for is to call him and see where his head is at. if he isn't into you don't push it. Wrecking friendships over sex is pretty weak!
