sometimes I cannot understand what I ever did without TCM. tonight they are playing a few films including a retrospective of the life of the late great Stanley Kubrick.

So tonight I've watched the retrospective, Dr. Strangelove & am now so sucked into Lolita, I am having a hard time keeping up with my IM conversations. :p

so whats your favorite Kubrick film?

I am going to say this...I have never seen any of those movies or any Stanley Kubrick....but considering you did something only I thought someone like myself would do.....and posted something totally left field that you think is awesome......I am going to the video store tomorrow to get whichever movie you recommend to watch first. No lies

its hard to pick a favorite. however, i did watch full metal jacket consecutively. i don't understand why people rate it as such a gruesome film. mentally it was disturbing but its nothing we haven't seen from other films. basically the dialogue and the cinematography won me over.

at the time is was considered gruesome. but to this day its considered one of the most realistic views of the vietnam war ever created and one of the most psychologically screwed up movies. its a fantastic flick but i could only handle watching it once.

A bit of trivia: Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange is not the first adaptation of Burgess' book. Andy Warhol did a film adaptation in 1965 titled- Vinyl.

He only made nine features, all of them A+! There is no such thing as "which ones the best". Buy the boxed set and enjoy genius for many years to come. Money well spent!!
