I realize that I am far from being an Angel. I have posted inappropriate pictures, shown my butt when I felt someone was being attacked and posted things that were better left unsaid.

We all make mistakes. We all have different definitions of appropriate. We all have our opinions and the right to share them without taking away anyone else's right. We are all adults and need to heed the Moderators warnings and change our behavior appropriately.

All that withstanding, I love this website and more specifically the people I've met through it. They make me laugh, make me think, and sometimes even make me cry. But mostly they make me feel.

Dear Mingle Gods, for those that have been banned, suspended and warned more times than you can keep track of, please remember we are just a bunch of lost souls who found a common place to drift. But we are your misfits.

Chrissy, I'd like to address this from a moderator point of view. I'm not speaking for Admin or any of the other mods here; just my own views and observations.

First of all, banning is something no one really wants to do here. And, the vast majority of the time, it's only done after a number of previous attempts to get the person to understand and abide by the rules. The only times I've seen a ban implemented early on are when the user is clearly here just to cause trouble from Day One (the really naughty pics in the very first post, that sort of thing) or when it's an obvious spammer/scammer.

Usually, there is a lot of discussion and thought (and attempts at reasoning with the person!) before a ban is implemented. I have seen Charles go out of his way to give someone a little more leeway than I probably would have, to be honest. But we all want the site to grow, and that's a lot easier to accomplish if the members stick around. You can't ban everybody who messes up; by the same token, you can't turn a blind eye to egregious violations, either.

But let me say this -- there's a real difference between making a mistake (or even a few mistakes!) and repeatedly, deliberately, violating the forum rules. I'm operating under the assumption that most of us either know this, or are capable of comprehending it once it's been pointed out.

We love our misfits here. Hey, if not for misfits, we wouldn't even have a site!

And a person's attitude, when informed of a rules violation, goes a long way toward determining how Admin reacts to a situation, too. We all make mistakes; the ones who do well are the ones who learn from it. The ones who reply belligerently with cursing and threats aren't going to be seen as seriously wanting to be a long-term part of the site.

This is a great place, a fun site, and we're all fortunate to have found it, and to have become members here. We want other people to be able to do the same. And sometimes, unfortunate though it may be, that means we have to address the issue of disruptive and hostile people who find their way in here. Because those people can drive members away from here, and that is something we absolutely cannot permit.

Please believe me when I say that anyone who has been banned from here, ended up that way on their own merits. There are no random or arbitrary bans. We have to consider what's best for the site, and for the vast majority of the members who take the time to post and interact appropriately, in the long term.

Yeah and on my butt of all places... caught it in time and it's nearly well now thank goodness!!
