your child had grown up?

My oldest son Corey came home to visit after graduatin Army AIT. I went to the airport to pick him up an he was in uniform. We were waitin for his bags to come down the conveyor belt. A complete stranger walked up to him took his hand an shook it while lookin him straight in the face an said "Son, Thank you for your service to our great country." an simply walked away. I looked at my son an realized he wasn't that cute lil toe-headed blond, blue eyed mischievous boy anymore, he was now a Man.bigsmile tears

So, come on share your storiesdrinker

Just before her birthday in March 2007 my daughter took me out to dinner and she was really nervous for some reason. She told me that she had something important to tell me...of course being a mom I thought she was gonna tell me that her boyfriend finally popped the question.

NOPE that was not it!

Instead she tried to make small talk during dinner and BSing about almost everything, finally I said, just come out with it....what ever it is we will deal with it....good or bad.

Well she proceeded to tell me that she was gonna have a baby.........noway shocked

YES I was shocked, for this child never wanted children of her own. She always said that there were too many children in the world growing up in Foster Care and she wanted to adopt instead.

The next time I felt that my baby wasn't a baby was Mother's day that same year. She gave me a nice plant and a great card........inside the card was a copy of her sonagram showing the TWINS.......YES I said TWINS..........I nearly dropped to the floor with a great big THUD.

Not only was I gonna be a grandma the same year I turned 40 (if that isn't enough of reality smacking you in the face) but twins no less.

As you watch the maturing of your child you realize with every passing day they are grwoing up and becoming adults. The skined knees on the ball field. Learning to drive. Leaving for college. Their first "real" job. Then the day they pick a mate. You know you did a great job. And life does go on.

Still waiting for the last part to come in my childrens lives. But everyday is a great day knowing I have wonderful kids

that make me proud every day.flowerforyou

When my eldest had to look after 43 passengers on a tourist boat, after having a woman die tragically in his arms...a drowning, whilst on the day trip.

He was 16.....

When my eldest girl stepped on a plane to Sydney, to go start her independent life....she was nearly 18....bigsmile

I'll let you know with the other 2 when they get there...

and me...when I get there... laugh
