does anybody here like "indie" music i.e. modest mouse,death cab for cutie,grizzly bear,animal collective,silversun pickups,yeah yeah yeahs et. al. (i realise that most of these bands are no longer on indie labels and it is more a genre rather than a real description)

It depends what you call "indie." Sure, I enjoy those and bands like Ambulance LTD, the Black Angels, the Black Keys, Midlake, Neutral Milk Hotel, St. Vincent... I'm quite into the whole garage rock revival, shoegaze, psychedelia, folk type music.

indie is basically a mix of post-punk,new wave,garage,pyschedilic,experitmental,art/noise rock,surfer rock,folk,electronica originally indie was bands that were on independant labels but much like punk rock now its just descriptive of the sound rather than reality

its mostly "indie" with a few pop exceptions like sim and garfunkel and coldplay

indie isn't even indie anymore. if something is cool but more underground.. the mainstream kids snatch it up and make it popular. good music is hard to find anymore, but if you know what you're looking for, there are plenty of bands worth listening to.
