Topic: Pre-Natal Pre-Nup...?

Overheard on a talk show about a guy who was thrown out of court...TWICE...for wanting to establish...essentially...his anti-parental rights...

He engaged in PROTECTED consensual sex with a woman...AFTER telling her that he did NOT want to conceive any children. Well, no B.C. is 100% effective & she chose to have the baby...

If a woman has the right to determine whether or not she wants to become a mother...whether by abortion or carrying the baby to term...why doesn't a man have the right to determine whether or not he wants to be a father?

Should there be a pre-coital legal agreement that both could sign BEFORE intercourse & ACCIDENTAL conception?

Thoughts?

Exactly, its the woman's right to choose, but men have very little choice, besides to pay child support. So a pre-coital contract would be an excellent idea, if you as a male, do not want a child, whether BC is used or not. Thus, when "she" makes her choice, all you have to do is nothing. Hmmm, We can call the case Goe V Evade.

You can't negotiate the 18 years of child support though.

Well see...that's the problem...the guy was thrown out of court before his case was even heard. I suppose there aren't any more judges who've got the balls to make a yay or nay ruling like the one who heard Roe VS Wade...typical...

Yea the whole problem is, Roe V Wade gives every right to the woman. Yet completely leaves out the male part of the equation. She has the right choose, and he has no rights whatsoever, if he doesn't want the child.

She'll give it back, every other weekend, as long as you send the child support payments.

isn't accidental pregnancy a chance you take when having intercourse to begin with........if the man wants 100 % insurance that he won't have to pay child support some time in the future I guess the only recourse is NOT to have sex at all

Well how unfair is that? What if the man wants the child and the woman doesn't? He has no rights whatsoever.

Agreed...he's stuck paying child support for a child he doesn't even want. I am NOT advocating abortion...in fact, I'm a staunch supporter of Pro-Life...as I am also pro Men's Rights in this situation... If she has the "right" to make that decision...let her pay for the kid...

he could always do what my friend did, ask the woman to carry the child to term, sign off all her parental rights and turn over custody to him.

A woman has the choice of abortion...so the man can either be celibate or get a vasectomy? Doesn't seem fair to me... However, if there's a legal agreement made easily available prior sexual consent, then at least the man is on a fair playing field. Believe me...I don't think taking the time to read & sign a piece of paper is near as "interrupting" as a screaming kid with a loaded diaper...

But the problem is, if she doesn't want to go through with the birth and just get an abortion, there's very little he can do about it. But if she wants it and he doesn't, he's stuck paying child support for 18 years? Seems like a double standard, if she chooses, then she should support it.

You know what, this has to be the most civil debate involving abortion I think I've ever seen. drinks

I agree with you Phuque, men's rights are not taken in to consideration in any of this but until a man can conceive and carry a baby, it is just they way the world works for now
