PRT = Parson Russell Terrier, which is a larger version of Jack Russell but completely different breed.

Maybe it has a little pug in it or chow if it can curl it's tail?

Hmmm do pugs have curled tails, don't remember. The curled tail would be about the only indication she is a chow, but had thought of it too.

If it has any Chow, you will find a black dot on the tongue. My family and I have had Chows.

Wow ok that I didn't know. Ok for a bit more info, hopefully we are getting closer.

She has a speckled belly and speckles around her nose and lower legs under her fine hair which is baby soft and shiny, not what I remember abou a jack russell but never had one this young either. She has only a few spots where her fur is tan, on her ears and one spot between her shoulder blades, a tiny section is tan so light you can barely notice.

Winx I checked her tongue just now and sure enough that is a dimesized iregular spaded black spot, and a few very tiny specks of black. Roof of mouth is spotted as well.

So we might have a jack russell chow mix? Is that possible? Ok no wise cracks.. LOL

Oh yes and pink gums.

I don't either, just looked up info on PRT and chows, but I will look up that one too and see about the tongue thing.

I pretty much don't care, but it helps to know what behaviours to look for in what ever breeds she might be. I guess they can be mix of all sorts of breeds if both the parents were mixed too, right?

I can't help you figure out what kind of dog it is but here are my picks for names. They are my favorites...probably because these are the names I've given my own dogs! haha

1. Kiva (Keeva) my favorite...and I think she looks like a Kiva!)
2. Mida (Meeda)
3. Tashi
3. Leo
4. Punkin (yes...with an N instead of an M..haha)

She is a real cutie pie!!

In German, the word for beautiful is Schön. How about Schöna for her name?

No idea on the type of dog, though. I've always had big hounds, and they look the same, only smaller.. duh. laugh

That's a cutie. The tongue isn't dark like a Chow's though.

I've been around Chows so much that it took me awhile to get used to pink tongues on dogs.laugh

Other breeds have dark tongues too. Some darker than others. I see yellow lab mix and some kind of terrier..pit, or bull dog. The spotted belly is something I have seen in jacks and chihuahuas. The tail also shows some chow, or other type of double layered hair dog. Such as husky or sled dog.

I dont know, but it is cute.

They didnt tell you at the shelter? Or did you save it from the streets? Either way...good for you. They all need good homes. I love dogs.

wow, I was just now going to post that link.. Good information. Actually my neighbor's daughter also though that that black spot on it's tongue meant she had chow in there somewhere, but guess that's not nessarily true, she had thought it look like a rotty? Ummm, I don't see that either. Really has me stumped. The mother thought no way it's a jack russell, but I have seen a couple of jr mixes that do look similar. She thinks it looks pit, but I don't see pit either, I had a lab/pit mix and it's head just doesn't have that round look to me or the teeth shape...

Love the name suggestions. i have been calling her Suki, but have not settled on a name.

Dang dog thinks she is supposed to go on the pee pads meant for my tiny chihuahuas.. Ugh, she's smart but that ain't where I want her to go...

Got her from a neighbor that was not caring for her, she was covered in ticks and had a rash all over her belly lets and arm pits, probably why they could not give her away like they did the others. One was black with white chest, another was white with a black saddle shape.. And she was the mostly white one with very light tan ears and a spot of tan in the middle of her back. She is adorable, smart and minds well. Doesn't matter but am still curious. The people didn't tell me what she was, they don't speak english that well.

That's funny - you were going to post that link too.laugh

I don't see any pit bull in her in the new pics. The older pics made me think there could be though.
