When you're burned out from work, how do you deal with it?

I've been burning out from work for the better part of five years now, and -to tell the truth- I still haven't found a workable solution as of yet. You COULD spend more time away from work (vacations, etc.), but if you have to deal with more crap from the jobsite afterward, you're probably not going to make any head-way.

Part of the problem is despite the fact we're being overloaded with more and more work, we aren't making any money (or in my case, we're actually LOSING money). We're getting frazzled from the extra responsibility without the extra compensation that comes with that extra responsibility. Not only that, but the worsening economic climate we're currently facing (which is the result of forty-plus years of poor legislation on the part of our elected leaders, as well as rampant corporate greed) doesn't give us high hopes for the future.

So it's kind of hard to look at the "brighter side of life" when the chips are stacked against you. And that doesn't help when you're burning out (or are already burned-out) from work.

Even spending time away doesn't help much. As you know, I just got back from vacation, but that just leaves work piled up for when I get back. Which means more stress, because everyone wants everything done last week, while I was gone. Of course, my backup didn't do a whole lot to help with that.

All I basically see these days is a pile if never ending work.

Kind of hard to move on from jobs at the moment, as it's difficult to get a new one. Or keep the current one.

Im completely burnt out from work. There isnt enough staff to do everything we need to do. So patient care goes down. And its not fair to them or to us. Its frustrating and if the economy wasnt so bad right now.....I would get another job. So all I can do is cry....because there is nothing I can do.

I end up spending the day in meetings - training for myself, team meetings, meetings with sales people because they can't figure out what they want, meetings to train another team, meetings to check their work. Then I have to fit in my own work somewhere.

I don't think there is much of a solution at the moment. I don't hate my job, or anything like that. I just spend a lot of time fixing other people's issues and it makes things stressful. I'm tired of it.
