Send him 'care' packages. Just make sure u don't load it down with snacks. The DI's will make him get rid of whatever can't be eatten in a day. Lots of letters & pictures also will help. It's hard when they leave the nest but u'll get thru it. Get out an get involved in some activities to keep urself busy. Gettin involved with some of the organizations that help service men/women may also help u.shades

Ur local USO is a great place to start. There's also an organization online where u can write to service men/women overseas. Can't remember their name off hand but I'm sure u can find it by usin ur fav search engine. Every branch also has a support group for parents online now. There's also plenty of us parents right here who have children in the service for support. shades

My dog has it too, she is absolutely terrible.

As for the OP, missing your son is natural, you wouldn't be right if you didn't.

Contact him if you can to ease your mind a bit but you will not be able to stop the worry. As parents we all do it.

Start a journal of conversatrions you want to have with him.

My granny did that. I did it when my daughters went off to college.

The 1st couple of weeks he's gonna be really busy an the DI's are barely gonna give him time to breath. After a routine has been established they'll give them time to make phone calls an write letters home. In fact they will encourage it. shades

Have no fear, U'll get a letter before too long. Keep in mind, he's missin u just as much as ur missin him. In the meantime show ur pride, go to ur local recruiter an get ya a "Proud Parent of a Soldier" bumper sticker, get a tshirt made that says "My son wears Combat Boots". U'd be surprised just how many people notice an will come up to u an tell u that they to have a child in the service also.shades
