Maybe not in my top 10 but when you hear those openings with the guitar sustain...you can't help but get caught up in the songs!

Best Band Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not necessarily though!!!!!

Having said that, i guess everyone has his/her own opinions and taste.

However, talking of Van Halen, i love "Can't Stop Lovin' You" the best. Other songs, that i love includes "Right Now", "When It's Love", "Why Can't This Be Love", "Jump", "(Oh) Pretty Woman", "You Really Got Me".

Just liked the vocal talent of David Lee Roth too. A pity he left the band.

Not only that, but I've had a rather unpleasant experience in meeting Eddie Van Halen (don't believe the spin about him being a "nice guy"- he's a total jerk of the highest magnitude) back a number of years ago, so I wouldn't even put them in any top-ten list.

Besides- George Lynch (of Dokken/Lynch Mob) can take EVH's style and beat him over the head with it.

Moo, who in the world have you NOT met yet? laugh

BTW I'm burned out on VH; their music is played here on 3 different stations. Lexington Kentucky has no "new" rock stations sad

Well... I haven't met George Lynch, if that's what you're asking.

I met EVH a long time ago- I was working summers (still in high school at the time) for a special effects dude who was doing some fire effects for their "If It's Love" video (from their OU812 album).

If you're thinking, "Hey... there's NO fire effects in that video!!!", you'd be partly right- we DID do fire effects in the video, but some rather d-baggy whining and bitching on EVH's part resulted in all that stuff being cut out.

The video was supposed to be partly about an old couple who do a slow-dance thing while they play the song. Apparently, their playing is so "hot" that the couple burst into flames at some point and are reduced to ash by the song's end. There were some sparks and stuff to go on as well at various parts of the song.

But here's what happened-

I was (and still am) a guitar-player myself, and I was particularly struck with how many Marshall stacks were on the stage on the set, which were all rentals from a company called "SIR".

So -during the crew's lunch hour- I went to check the amps out.

All of a sudden, EVH comes rushing at me in a fervor. He's screaming his lungs out at me, asking "what the F***" I'm doing on the stage and stuff. He also accused me of trying to wreck his guitar or something, which he had casually left on the stage's riser.

The kicker was when he called one of his roadies or something to have me escorted off the stage. The roadie woulda escorted me out of the set if the dude I was working for hadn't have intercepted me when he did. He asked me what happened, and I told him the story.

This sent the boss-man (a dear friend of my pop, who is also a special effects dude) into a tizzy himself. He charged at EVH and called him a bunch of stuff (that will probably get "****" out if I try to type them out) and a bunch of other stuff. It was a pretty serious altercation to be sure...

So -a couple of weeks later- the video premieres on MTV (or whatever other channel) and it turns out that all the fire effects that were supposed to be in the video had been cut out. The video had been reduced to close-ups of the band, and some bartender with slicked-back hair.

I told the dude I worked for about what I saw, and he called the director to find out. It turned out that EVH was SUCH a d-bag over the altercation that had happened that he DEMANDED that the video NOT show any fire whatsoever or the video would NOT be shown. Period.

So yeah- I met EVH. If I met him again, I'd probably smash his face in.

I've been burned out on Van Halen since 1982

I don't care for em at all without Roth. I think it was Sammy's worst mistake ever to hook up with Van Halen

Yup. DL Roth's solo stuff was fine, but he belongs with VH.

Sammy was so-so with VH, but he's much better off solo. It's too much Van Hagar.

Gary Cherone....well, that's an entirely different ballgame altogether. He should've just stayed with Extreme and shut up.
