Fellow writers:

Has your work been published? If so where and when?
I won a short story contest in Glamour mag in 1978

Are you trying to get published.? If so how's it going? If not why?

(talk amongst yourselves)

The Queensland Government of Australia published a case study that I completed during my tertiary studies regarding the sustainability of sand mining on North Stradbroke Island. That is about as far as any of my writing has ever gone. Boring piece of analytical garbage in my opinion haha

In 1997, I had a short story published in a Suicide Surviors Newsletter.

I will have an article published in 'Academic Excellence' which is a newsletter by Wayne State University Academic Success Center soon and they might run my article again for a special edition for incoming freshman. Its about the importance of networking with faculty while attending college.

And I am debating if this summer I want to work with a data set that I collected and seek publication. It's itching at me... so I just might.

As for poetry, I never sought publication.

I have been rejected numerous times here in the United States. laugh At first I was devastated. Now it is a routine and it doesn't bother me anymore. I always ask why they rejected the novel and what needs to be worked on. I usually get there is nothing wrong with my stories, but it just isn't the right time to publish such works. Sounds very promising doesn't it. Well they always have a good way of giving you the boot don't they.laugh

Although there is some promise of my twenty years of writing. A English publishing company has shown interest in my work and are preparing the possibilities of publishing one of my novels. It looks like they will want me to sign a contract to offer 2 more books to the series. If so I will have to discuss it with my lawyer to see what other small details are entailed in this contract. I rather be safe then sorry!.

I also have a book that I wrote in German, yet I haven't searched for a publishing company for this yet. I still am not pleased with the novel. I am still letting it marinade right now.laugh

Those novels that I can't get any publishing company to accept will probably be self published with Createspace or lulu.com. Maybe I will sell 1 or 2 copies with friends and family. laugh

I use to believe I would write the next bestseller and be a known author. Don't we all think like this when we complete a novel! Those days are over. Now I am just happy if anyone just reads my work. That alone is something special in itself.

Well don't let my experience put you down. Everyone is different. Every year there is a author who actually makes it big with his work. You can be one of them. So don't give up. drinker

I was fortunate to write and get paid for a few local art reviews and theatre reviews years ago in a local newspaper. That was exciting for me!

I don't know if this counts but I wrote a poem which was selected to be in a book called "Poetic Voyages" from "Western Kent" publishers when I was 10 years old lol. It was a rubbish poem though XD lol wat a minute, I have it here...

"Voices in a silent night,
The televisions showing films,
Making a chatting sound,
The dog tapping up the stairs,
Talking, all from downstairs,
I can't go to sleep.
I dare say I wish these noises would go away.
Next-door shouting all night,
The foxes are looking for their food,
People shouting along the street,
Going out for Trick or Treat.
The trees are whispering,
In the black night,
Now it is midnight,
Everything has gone dead now,
I can have peace and dreams."

LOL it is terrible. Although, I suppose I was only little...
