Topic: Rice Admits she is a lezbian | |
---|---|
sexual orientation is irrevlant to doing the job at hand. Rice is having affair with another grown women its not the business of the public really to begin with. right...in normal circumstances it's all true. But it becomes political when a former sec. of state is doing another country's foreign minister. It does have an impact in politics one way or another. Imagine George Bush having a sexual affair with Vladimir Putin. wonder who was the top and who was the bottom |

I don't think about a person's sexlife when they are giving a speech or are being interviewed on TV. My focus is not on a persons sexuality though it seems that sex is the focus of everything these days. So, no I did not know she was gay and frankly it's not my business who sleep with whom, nor do I care. |

I agree with boo. the last thing I think about is what they do behind closed doors. it's none of my business and it doesn't mean she can't do her job. it's no different than any relationship....a relationship can get in the way of a job or not

I am curious, gayfifer, Do you have a problem with gay women or just women in general? I say this because of your choice of words, like deisel dyke, planet lesbo. What's up with that? It's straight out of the 50's... Seriously, Rice no more looks like a diesel dyke than you do... I am assuming that you are gay with the name gayfifer, so I am curious why you are so crude when it comes to discussing gay woman? I am not angry just curious, so forgive my bluntness. |

Sorry I didn't quite understand that, could you explain please, and for a second question why the name gayfifer, does it stand for something, if you are not gay? |

i prefer using words that straight folks think they own as insults. but u don't have to approve |

like we didn't already know I still think she would make a good NFL commissioner though I didn't know. I didn't even suspect it. |

lol, ok yes i am a fag and i live in fife i prefer using words that straight folks think they own as insults. but u don'y have to approve Thank you for explaining. I was just thinking that I just might understand why you do it, but as a gay woman when I see those words in print they are desturbing, because if you as a gay man condone their use, then you in a way condone the straight's use of them to demean us. Just as some straights use the N word, they say they should have the right because blacks use it, when we know full well that when white people use the word it isn't meant to be pretty. Does that make any sense. I mean I am not going to ask you to stop it, that is your choice, just thought you might care to hear another perspective from a gay woman. I would never ever use the F word to discuss gay men, I find it purely used to demean gay men and that infuriates me. Maybe I am too sensitive... |

that's why i say i desensitise the words, that and it totally takes the wind out their sails.
anyway sorry if ur offended it's just the way i am |

i am a straight woman...i would NEVER use those words to describe anyone who is of a different orientation than myself.
i understand the thinking behind removing the negative power of such words, but at the same time, i'm very aware that they ARE hurtful. stigmatizing. demoralizing. denigrating. and i get ANGRY when i hear them used...and i pretty much always open my mouth. i never let such hatred just lie...i point it out. i'd rather see such words disappear. to stigmatize the USE of such...so that people are stared at in horrified, disgusted amazement for even letting them THINK of passing their lips. |

I agree. I feel that they are demeaning. I would never say those words just like I would never say the N word. I especially like your last paragraph. |

that's why i say i desensitise the words, that and it totally takes the wind out their sales. anyway sorry if ur offended it's just the way i am I do understand the desensitizing thing, I really do, but I really have not seen that it works to any great extent, it just gives those who feel they have the right to use them more reason to use them. It's distressing to me that you of all people use them in a public forum, where our words instruct others... well hopefully, but hopefully not in a negative way. We will never ever get beyond this if we use these words. If that is politically correct, than I am fine with that, because it takes more character to take a moment to be considerate than it takes to be crude or insulting. I am not saying you were trying to be cruel, I get what you are saying to me, I just want you to know how your words feel to the reader, and to me specifically as a gay woman. |

oh i didn't say they could still use them!
but certainly all my gay friends use them. |

oh i didn't say they could still use them! but certainly all my gay friends use them. Yes and some of my gay friends use them as well so I do understand where you are coming from. Amongst other gays and in conversation, I didn't used to speak very often about it, until very recently. I was at a barbecue with a family up the street that has a gay cousin, who considers himself effeminate and frankly doesn't care who knows it. I admire his attitude but he too uses those words and in using them, his family wondered if I might mind being called a Dyke or homo or lezy. I told them while I understand why some gays choose to use those words, I don't care to be referred to in that way, and they understood, why wouldn't they if they could put themselves in my place for just an instant. In a world that tends to dislike differences, using those words is like carrying a sign that focuses on those differences in a negative way. Now if only their cousin would understand that. He's a sweet heart and young, so I'll give it some time.. lol. I don't see myself living in some special universe. I am a human being living among other human beings, not special, and certainly not defined solely by my sexuality. I am actually grateful to you that this came up, and that it hit me the way it did. I think people are missing out when they don't take the time to find out what gay people are all about, my neighborhood has their first out gay person, and I would hate to have to move because they have all have treated me like family and in a small town like this, that is saying something. Words count, and words make a difference. |

don't get me started on effeminite queers

don't get me started on effeminite queers This guy is one of the sweetest gay men I have ever known. He'd give you the last dollar in his pocket even if he was starving to death. He's deeply religious and is a wonderful human being. As for his being effeminate, if you knew his childhood, it would be absolutely no suprise. Now having said that, what is wrong with being effeminate? Is there something especially wrong with women that wanting to immitate one is so offensive? What's ultimataley wrong with men that it would be offensive to immitate a male? I think if we had more respect for eachother as males and females we might not have so many issues. |
